WWE Monday Night Raw - April 24, 2017 - Sprint Center Arena in Kansas City, MO
WWE SmackDown - April 25, 2017 – Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, IA
BATTLE OF THE BRANDS:
RAW vs. SMACKDOWN
FACTOR 1: CROWD
Man, that raw crowd was as dead as it gets. I don't know why either, but I bet it was because the show was awful. SmackDown wins here.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 2: COMMENTARY
Okay so I have to eat my words a little here.. I said that SmackDown got the short end of the stick with Byron Saxton, but he has found his spot on SmackDown. This is proof that SmackDown can make anything better if they can work wonders with Byron Saxton. Good on ya, SD Live.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 3: MATCHES
Meh.. Neither show had anything outstanding here. The Dumpster Match was as good as you'd expect it to be, the Raw main event was iffy, and SmackDowns Women's Title match was interrupted. AJ & Baron had a good match so theres a plus.
Really, both shows were weak, but SmackDown had the more entertaining matches.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 4: PROMOS
The starting promo for Raw had all the ingredients to be really solid, but it ran 20 minutes. Which was 10 minutes too long and really set the stage for what was a long drawn out show, and that was the only promo of any significance.
SmackDown had a fun opening with Shinsuke & Dolph, and really that was it too. At least that was the appropriate length of time. So SmackDown wins.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 5: STORYLINES
I HATE everything going on with Bray and Randy, but I'm not sure which show to punish as they are on different shows. I just wanted to get that off my chest at the start.
Raw.. If Braun Strowman loses to Roman this Sunday (which he will) they will be on my shit list. He is a wrecking ball right now, and needs to keep that going. Dean and Miz are doing as well as they can for a second go around on a midcard feud. The womens division is getting better with Alexa being involved, and I still hate the fact that the title isn't on every week.
SmackDown.. Shinsuke is only upping an already stacked roster. The WWE Title picture is great with Jinder and The Bollywood Boyz with their antics. The United States picture is looking great with KO & AJ (KO is beating Y2J so why even act like its going to be different?), and I'm hoping I'll like Charlotte more with her being on SmackDown. KO and AJ and the mix up with Jinder makes SmackDown #1.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 6: SCHEDULING / PACING
Two hours over three hours. My God did Raw drag on and on and on and on.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 7: VISUAL PRESENTATION
For the sake of giving Raw a point, they'll get it here. The show was bad, but not getting swept bad. This category is so hard to distinguish, so I'll just sell out here.
WINNER: Raw
EXTRA CREDIT BONUS ROUND!!!
Nothing here.
POINT ADJUSTMENTS: Raw (+0 / -0) / SmackDown (+0 / -0)
THIS WEEK'S WINNER = SmackDown
Raw was bad. Like really bad. It felt like it was 7 hours long, and just had nothing worth watching. Thats what happens when you start off the show with a 20 minute promo. SmackDown is only going to get better. AJ, KO, Shinsuke.. Thats a loaded roster all its own. SmackDown is proving that it'll be on top for awhile.
That's my pick for the better show of the week, but how do YOU stand?
Which was better, Raw or SmackDown?
