While most people are concerning themselves with March Madness, we here at Smark Out Moment present to you the 2017 SMARK MADNESS tournament instead! For this inaugural edition, our fans in The Mega Maniacs Facebook group chose the topic at hand: what is the best finisher in the history of professional wrestling?

2017 WWE March Madness tournament pro wrestling Smark Out Moment

After five rounds, you narrowed down the choices to the RKO and the Stone Cold Stunner for the finals and the results are in:

RKO (67.2% - 43 votes) vs. STONE COLD STUNNER (32.8% - 21 votes)

As such, your winner for the first ever Smark Madness tournament and your pick for the best finisher in professional wrestling history is THE RKO!

Check out the full bracket below:

CLOSEST CALL

With only one single vote separating the two in Round 1, the Sharpshooter narrowly surpassed the 6-1-9 with 50.6% over 49.4%. The Sharpshooter would struggle the next round as well, getting only 50.8% over the Walls of Jericho before being wrecked by the Sweet Chin Music in Round 3 (87.7% over Sharpshooter's 12.3%)

BIGGEST LANDSLIDE VICTORY

In Round 1, the Spear soundly beat the Atomic Leg Drop with 97.6% of the votes.

Coming up close to that were some other Round 1 votes, such as RKO over Attitude Adjustment (95.3%) and Pedigree over Camel Clutch (95.3%). In Round 2, the RKO had 95.2% over the Skull Crushing Finale.

BIGGEST SHOCKERS

I'm surprised at how close the Sweet Chin Music and F5 got to each other, as I thought that would be much more in the superkick's favor.

Sister Abigail beating the Ankle Lock was a shock, given Kurt Angle's resurgence in WWE. I also never would have thought the 6-1-9 could be one vote away from the Sharpshooter.

The End of Days made it much, much further than I had anticipated. I thought it would be knocked out in the first round up against the Shooting Star Press, let alone also beating the Rock Bottom and the Powerbomb, which I thought was a potential winner of the whole thing.

Our analysis on the outcome of the finals and the 2017 edition of the tournament as a whole can be found in the latest Smack Talk podcast:
