WWE Monday Night Raw - February 27, 2017 - Resch Center in Green Bay, WI
WWE SmackDown - February 28, 2017 – Xcel Energy Center in St Paul, MN
BATTLE OF THE BRANDS:
RAW vs. SMACKDOWN
FACTOR 1: CROWD
Thankfully, both crowds were far better than they were last week. But, again, SmackDown crowd had a lot more to cheer for and they came through earning themselves the win.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 2: COMMENTARY
More and more I'm losing my faith in David Otunga. However, he isn't anywhere close to Byron Saxton bad who I still can't believe has a spot on Raw.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 3: MATCHES
Man, both shows had great matches. Harper vs. Styles, Lynch vs. James, and a couple others on SmackDown were good. However, Raw had Joe vs. Cesaro which was awesome, and a couple of really good cruiserweight bouts. So, the cruiserweights get Raw the win here.
WINNER: Raw
FACTOR 4: PROMOS
SmackDown and it isn't even close. Miz and Cena opened the show with an incredible segment, and they closed the show on an even better note with the Orton turn on Wyatt. Beautiful stuff from the blue brand here.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 5: STORYLINES
Again, this is a SmackDown win. A lot of people weren't really sold on the whole Orton vs. Wyatt thing at Mania, but they Orton turn went over huge. They did it in the best way possible, and capitalized big time. And last I checked, Goldberg is still about to become the Universal Champion so thats an automatic L.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 6: SCHEDULING / PACING
Raw felt like it was 6 hours long, when really it was only half of that. Which is still too much. So, of course, SmackDown wins again.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 7: VISUAL PRESENTATION
When it comes to the visual presentation of a segment, its hard to top the job SmackDown did in their "main event". Orton burning down and destroying the Wyatt compound and finally breaking away from Bray was masterfully done.
WINNER: SmackDown
EXTRA CREDIT BONUS ROUND!!!
Nothing.
POINT ADJUSTMENTS: Raw (+0 / -0) / SmackDown (+0 / -0)
THIS WEEK'S WINNER = SmackDown
Go home shows for PPV's like Raw had this week are notoriously known for being slow and boring. Raw was exactly that. Slow and boring. It has an ominous feel that Goldberg is becoming champ just because he's Goldberg, and thats dumb. Its women's division is in the tank even though it has the bigger name stars. Everything about it is dying right now. SmackDown however, is fantastic every single week and is consistently building its own stars. Corbin, Bliss, and Harper just for some examples. SmackDown wins 6-1.
That's my pick for the better show of the week, but how do YOU stand?
Which was better, Raw or SmackDown?
