Here are my predictions for UFC 210. Card is subject to change so come back closer to the event for updated predictions.
MAIN CARD
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Daniel Cormier (c) vs Anthony Johnson (#1)
This should be interesting. Johnson could easily get the KO, but if he doesn't catch Cormier, he'll probably lose. My heart says Johnson, but my head says Cormier.
PREDICTION: Anthony Johnson, 2nd round KO. I hope so.
MIDDLEWEIGHT: Chris Weidman (#4) vs Gegard Mousasi (#5)
I love Gegard Mousasi, so I hope I'm not just picking him because of that. Losing his last two fights might hurt Weidman coming into this, especially after Mousasi's incredible 2016.
PREDICTION: Gegard Mousasi, decision.
STRAWWEIGHT: Cynthia Calvillo vs Pearl Gonzalez
Is this really going to be this high on the card?
PREDICTION: Cynthia Calvillo, 2nd round KO.
WELTERWEIGHT: Thiago Alves vs Patrick Cote
I really have no idea for this fight.
PREDICTION: Patrick Cote, decision.
LIGHTWEIGHT: Charles Oliveira (#9) vs Will Brooks
I like both of these guys and I'm struggling to make a pick. I think we'll get a finish though.
PREDICTION: Will Brooks, 3rd round KO. Unless Oliveira gets it to the ground, then he wins.
PRELIMINARY CARD
FEATHERWEIGHT: Myles Jury vs Mike de la Torre
On paper, this is Jury's to lose.
PREDICTION: Myles Jury, 2nd round KO.
WELTERWEIGHT: Kamaru Usman (#11) vs Sean Strickland
Why is Sean Strickland not ranked? I think he gets a good win here.
PREDICTION: Sean Strickland, 3rd round submission.
FEATHERWEIGHT: Shane Burgos vs Charles Rosa
8-0 and 11-2 are both decent records. I think I'll stick to my undefeated fighters for this pick, though.
PREDICTION: Shane Burgos, 1st round KO.
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Patrick Cummins (#12) vs Jan Blachowicz (#12)
Why are both guys ranked #12? This could be a good fight for the top 10, but Blachowicz has to win in my eyes.
PREDICTION: Jan Blackowicz, decision? Maybe submission, but I'll say decision.
EARLY PRELIMINARY CARD
LIGHTWEIGHT: Gregor Gillespie vs Andrew Holbrook
I'm going to break my rule of backing undefeated fighters. I think Holbrook wins it on the ground.
PREDICTION: Andrew Holbrook, 3rd round submission.
LIGHTWEIGHT: Josh Emmett vs Desmond Green
Emmett is undefeated, but I am tempted to go for Green here.
PREDICTION: Josh Emmett, decision. Hopefully we get a close fight.
BANTAMWEIGHT: Katlyn Chookagian vs Irene Aldana
This could be a good fight and might end up higher on the card, Aldana could get a finish, but I think Chookagian takes her all the way.
PREDICTION: Katlyn Chookagian, decision.
FLYWEIGHT: Jenel lausa vs Magomed Bibulatov
Bibulatov is 13-0...surely he has to win, right?
PREDICTION: Magomed Bibulatov, 2nd round submission.
