HITTING THE BULLSEYE
WWE are on a roll as of late with parody comedy skits. Last week, we had the excellent Southpaw Regional Wrestling web sketches, and then this week's SmackDown brought us the hilarious reality TV parody "Total Bulls*** Bellas" with The Miz and Maryse.
The Miz's robotic John Cena impression was uncannily like him, and Maryse's portrayal of both Bella Twins simultaneously was an excellent piece of acting work as well as cinematography. Major props and praise to the cast and crew for creating something that truly made me laugh.
The Miz is my favorite present day roster star, and ever since his reinvention as the A-Lister, he has been nothing short of excellent both in and out of the ring. I have little doubt that he will be doing the honors come WrestleMania, but with the level of consistent quality he has given these past few years, surely, another WWE Championship would not go amiss at some point in the future.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
JAN ROSS DIES
Not strictly wrestling related, but good thoughts and prayers are in order for Jim Ross, whose wife of 24 years died aged 55 on Wednesday, after she was involved in an accident on her motorcycle two days earlier.
Jim Ross is undisputedly the voice of a generation for fans of a certain age and the gold standard bearer in the wrestling commentary world. To this day, he continues to provide entertainment through his friendly, entertaining, and informative weekly podcast. It is for these reasons that I was so very saddened by this news. In some ways, he feels like an old friend, and I am sure that many WWE fans feel the same. I would encourage any fans to send him a tweet to offer condolences in what can only be a time of absolute turmoil for him.
My prayers are with you, Mr. Ross.
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
