WWE Monday Night Raw - February 13, 2017 - T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV
WWE SmackDown - February 14, 2017 – Honda Center in Anaheim, CA
BATTLE OF THE BRANDS:
RAW vs. SMACKDOWN
FACTOR 1: CROWD
SmackDown always has more to cheer for, and their crowd always comes through. I really thought both were rather weak, but if I had to choose it would be SmackDowns crowd. They almost always have a better feel each and every week.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 2: COMMENTARY
More and more I'm starting to despise David Otunga. Especially after his awful performance at the Elimination Chamber. He said more ridiculous things than I had time to write them down. So now, this category is coming down to who I hate more between Otunga and Saxton. I hate Otunga, but not that much quite yet.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 3: MATCHES
This is a harder category to grasp than I was ready for. Both main events were stellar. Cena vs. Styles vs. Wyatt is a great match, and Charlotte and Bayley was great too. If we are looking at the supporting matches, American Alpha vs. Ascension wasn't awful, and Mickie vs. Becky was on par as well.
On Raw we had Roman beat down the tag champs on his own, Braun vs. Mark Henry was meh, Sami vs. Rusev was decent, the cruiserweight matches were nothing special, and a few other meh matches.
If I'm picking my favorite, I'm going with SmackDown. Mostly because I'm very tired of Charlotte.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 4: PROMOS
You're not beating that Festival of Friendship from Raw. Thats just not going to happen. Enzo & Cass also had one of their better promos in recent history. You can't beat that.
WINNER: Raw
FACTOR 5: STORYLINES
SmackDown all the way. I was hesitant about Randy vs. Bray, but having Randy basically bow out due to his allegiance to Bray is a cool move. They can go a lot of different directions, so I'm definitely interested.
On Raw, the Jericho and Owens split was definitely fun. But last I checked Goldberg still has a title match. No thanks.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 6: SCHEDULING / PACING
It should be obvious how I feel about this. SmackDown is always better here. Two hours over three hours is a big part of that, but everything on SmackDown is meaningful and you can't say that about Raw.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 7: VISUAL PRESENTATION
SmackDown at least did something different on Sunday with the Elimination Chamber PPV where they had a different stage. So I'll give them the nod here.
WINNER: SmackDown
EXTRA CREDIT BONUS ROUND!!!
Nothing.
POINT ADJUSTMENTS: Raw (+0 / -0) / SmackDown (+0 / -0)
THIS WEEK'S WINNER = SmackDown
SmackDown is just the better show. Week in and week out. They prove that again this week with a winning tally of 6-1.
That's my pick for the better show of the week, but how do YOU stand?
Which was better, Raw or SmackDown?
