First Raw of 2017! That means its January, and January means the Royal Rumble. Raw will continue its build to the Rumble, and our storylines will start to shine through. Goldberg is going to be in attendance for the first Raw of the year! Stick around! Coverage starts at 8 pm EST.
PROMO (In-Ring): Mick Foley is in the ring with much shorter hair, and that he wrote down the name of the city they're in on his hand so he'll never forget again. He reminds us that at the Royal Rumble in Chris Jericho will be suspended above the ring in a shark cage for the Universal Championship match. That brings out KO and Y2J. KO can't believe that Foley would hang Jericho up there like a piñata. To which Jericho says he is a "sexy piñata". The two complain about Roman getting another title shot, Seth Rollins Pedigreeing Y2J on a car and getting rewarded, and then sticking Jericho in the cage and use all those as examples to how Foley is out to get them. It's a new year and they are ready to wipe the slate clean, and Foley agrees. He will get the first ever Kevin Owen's Show, a new talk show, and his first ever guest will be Goldberg. KO, warming up for his talk show, asks Foley what makes him think he can abuse his power as Raw GM. Then out comes Stephanie McMahon to defend Foley and his recent decisions. Stephanie then decides that Roman will defend his US Title against Chris Jericho, and to ensure a decisive winner Roman will lose the US Title if he is DQ'ed or counted out. Jericho & KO ask to ban Rollins from ringside during that match. Mick says that KO should be banned from ringside. Stephanie says that KO will go one on one and the loser will be banned from ringside.

MATCH: Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins
The loser will be banned from ringside in the United States Championship match.
RESULTS: Seth Rollins wins via DQ.
THOUGHTS: So this bans Owens from ringside for the US Championship. So I fail to see why he would get himself disqualified, but I'm sure that'll play out.

MATCH: Cesaro vs. Karl Anderson (w Luke Gallows)
Sheamus is on commentary.
RESULTS: Karl Anderson wins via pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Well.. I wasn't expecting that.
VIDEO PACKAGE: They show a video package of Braun Strowman and his destruction thus far, and then Sami's comeback at Roadblock.

LAST MAN STANDING MATCH: Sami Zayn vs. Braun Strowman
RESULTS: Braun Strowman wins.
THOUGHTS: This was great. I wish there was some blood, but man this was good.
After the match, Mick Foley accompanied by medical staff come out with a stretcher to get Sami. While they're stretchering him out Braun comes back out and attacks again.

PROMO (In-Ring): The New Day are here with their new year resolutions. They remind us all that they are the longest reigning WWE World Tag Team Champions, and they are officially in the 2017 Royal Rumble match. Before they can get to their resolutions, Titus O'Neil interrupts them. Titus says that they need a new member of The New Day to help reach their 2017 goals, and that member is the Titus Brand. He uses his whistle to do the "New Day Rocks" chant, and New Day says everyone knows that he blows. Titus says he could see his face on Booty-O's, but Xavier Woods says they would rather see his face on the back of a milk carton. Titus calls Xavier the weakest link of New Day, and Xavier proposes a match. Titus punches him, and then agrees after his cheap shot.

MATCH: Titus O'Neil vs. Xavier Woods (w The New Day)
RESULTS: Xavier Woods wins via pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Titus just keeps dropping lower. Glad Xavier won though.
PROMO (Backstage): Bayley stops by to talk to Stephanie, and complains about Dana Brooke being the special guest ref in the match. Stephanie says that Charlotte has high powered attorney's that put her in a bad spot, and besides she never wanted Bayley on Raw to begin with. She is nothing like Charlotte, she is just ordinary. Bayley says it doesn't matter. She believes in herself. Stephanie says that with that attitude, she will give her a number one contenders match where the winner a match against Charlotte at the Royal Rumble. Her opponent will be Nia Jax.
PROMO (Backstage): Noam Dar goes up to apologize to Cedric Alexander who is walking with Alicia Fox. Cedric says that he should apologize to Alicia, and he does but sarcastically calls her sweet cheeks afterwards and runs off.

MATCH: Cedric Alexander (w Alicia Fox) vs. Drew Gulak (w Tony Nese)
RESULTS: Drew Gulak wins via pinfall.
THOUGHTS: He won with a distraction by Tony Nese who knocked Alicia off the apron. I like Cedric a lot more than Drew Gulak, but hopefully we'll see a story here.

UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Chris Jericho
If Roman Reigns is disqualified or counted out he will lose the United States Championship.
Kevin Owens is banned from ringside.
RESULTS: Kevin Owens wins via pinfall.
THOUGHTS: I have a problem with this. Why have the match between KO and Rollins for who gets to be at ringside, but Rollins not even be at ringside when he won? I don't get it. I knew Jericho wasn't going to win. That was obvious. But I just didn't like this.

MATCH: Brian Kendrick vs. TJ Perkins
RESULTS: TJ Perkins win via submission.
THOUGHTS: I like these two, but I would've rather seen Neville. I'm sure we'll see him on 205 Live.
VIDEO PACKAGE: They play a video package for the upcoming United Kingdom Championship Tournament.

RESULTS: Jinder Mahal & Rusev win via pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Besides Enzo being in one of those rascal automatic wheelchairs, I didn't care about this at all.

MATCH: Bayley vs. Nia Jax
Winner will face Charlotte at Royal Rumble for the Raw Women's Championship.
Sasha Banks comes out to distract Nia Jax for a Bayley to Belly suplex from the top rope.
RESULTS: Bayley wins via pinfall.
THOUGHTS: I fully expected a Bayley vs. Charlotte at the Rumble.

KEVIN OWENS SHOW: Goldberg will be the first ever guest of the Kevin Owens Show. The show set is different.. There is a human being with a Kevin Owens Show t-shirt, and huge Kevin Owens Show sign right across his entire face. Team Kevin & Chris or Chris & Kevin main event Raw yet again. Chris Jericho puts Tampa Bay on the list for chanting Goldberg. Jericho then says he has a big bombshell to drop, and he announces that he is in the Royal Rumble. Owens gets upset saying that if he wins then they have to face off at WrestleMania. Jericho says that if he wins, then they are co champions no matter what, but KO doesn't want to fight his best friend. They are then interrupted by Goldberg. Goldberg reminds Jericho that he will be demolished by him in the Rumble, and then gets ready for a fight. Jericho gets ready to add Goldberg to the list, but Goldberg says he has a spear and Jackhammer waiting for him. KO says he is none too intimidated. Copying what Goldberg did and going face to face with him the ring. Then that brings out Paul Heyman who teases Brock Lesnar but he is not here this evening. Paul Heyman gives us a spoiler of the Royal Rumble match.. Eat, sleep, elimination, repeat. He is stopped by Goldberg who says that he will eliminate Lesnar, and no matter who is the champ they will have a date at WrestleMania. That brings out someone who just may be the champ at WrestleMania, Roman Reigns. Roman says that Jericho and Owens will win nothing at the Royal Rumble, and that brings him face to face with Goldberg. But then.. Braun Strowman joins the activities! Please don't let Goldberg ruin Strowmans momentum.. KO & Jericho leaves the ring, and Strowman says he will be the one winning the Royal Rumble match and joins the ring with Reigns and Strowman. Strowman eats a double spear from Goldberg and Reigns.
