SmackDown has set the bar with their first SmackDown only PPV in Backlash. After what was a good event, we get to see the fallout here tonight. Becky Lynch was straight fire in the six pack elimination challenge as she became the first SmackDown Women's Champion! Not only that was a crowd pleaser, but the cinderella story and unsung MVP that is Heath Slater won the first ever SmackDown Tag Team Championships with his hardcore partner Rhyno! I have a bad feeling they may drop those titles to The Usos sooner rather than later.. But lets enjoy this while we can. Randy Orton was not cleared to compete after suffering an injury, so bray Wyatt took on Demon Kane in a no DQ match. However, Bray Wyatt took ANOTHER loss after interference by The Viper. Last but certainly not least, AJ Styles has completed one of the greatest years in all of professional wrestling. Using an unseen low blow and a Styles Clash, AJ took home the title he should've been holding years ago in the WWE Championship!
PROMO (In-Ring): Our new WWE Champion and the face that runs the place, AJ Styles, is here! The first SmackDown Live of the Style's Era. I do like how he actually wears the belt around his waist. He starts off by telling the crowd "I TOLD YOU SO!". Everything he said he was going to do, he's done. He said he'd beat Cena, done. He said he'd become the face that runs the place, done. He said he would be Dean Ambrose and become the new champ, done. He says he could beat Cena and Ambrose with one hand tied behind his back, and whatever he says we should take it as the gospel. He then calls himself "The champ that runs the camp.". Which I'm not really a fan of, but then he is interrupted by John Cena! The first time we've seen Cena since his SummerSlam loss to AJ. Cena says that AJ has something that belongs to him, and he has decided he wants it back. Styles tosses him the sweatband, saying he doesn't need it because he has the title. Cena says he still has something he wants back, and its the World Heavyweight Championship. He wants to hold the belt one more time so he can be in the conversation with Ric Flair, and he wants to make history off AJ Styles. He wants to be a 16x champ, but they are then joined by the former champ in Dean Ambrose. Dean makes a beeline for the ring and heads straight to Styles. Styles holds the belt in his face, and Ambrose says AJ made the biggest mistake of his life. He can deal with losing, but the way he lost makes him AJ's enemy. Life changes when Ambrose is your enemy, and he is taking that belt back. Cena says that after he hung up AJ on the ropes, and now he is complaining about a low blow? John says Stone Cold was right when he called him out on his podcast, because he fell off after becoming champ. He's surprised the low blow even hurt, because he hasn't shown any balls lately. Ambrose says he doesn't give a damn about Cena or what he thinks. He calls Cena a lazy part timer, and that he is better off doing his TV shows since he can't keep up anymore. He's nothing but a corporate puppet who can't get it done in the ring anymore. He won't back down from a lazy part timer, and we are joined by Shane McMahon! The commissioner heads to the ring, and asks everyone to settle down a minute. Philly shows Shane-O-Mac some love, and Shane says he had to make an appearance with all the star power in the ring. He gives all three men credit for their recent performances, and AJ cemented himself as the face who runs the place even though he took the easy way out with a low blow. Shane says that Dean will have his one on one rematch, but not right now. AJ will defend his championship at No Mercy in a triple threat match with Dean and John Cena! Big match. But tonight, Dean and John Cena will team up against AJ Styles and partner of his choosing if he can find one. But since he is "The champ that runs the camp", he shouldn't have a problem doing that. If he does, then the GM will appoint one for him. Great segment.

MATCH: The Usos vs. The Hype Bros
RESULTS: The Usos win via pinfall.
THOUGHTS: This match was weird, and The Usos new outfits looked ridiculous. I still like heel Usos though.
*Commercial Break*
PROMO (Backstage): Another Curt Hawkins promo airs. It was pretty weird.
PROMO (In-Ring): The Miz and his wife are gracing us with their presence after successfully defending the Intercontinental Championship against Dolph Ziggler on Sunday thanks to a huge assist from Maryse and some sort of spray to Zigglers face. For weeks Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, and several members of the WWE Universe has called Miz a coward. He says thast fine, because on Sunday he walked out with his beautiful wife and the Intercontinental Championship. That makes this day 162 of the never ending reign. Both Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler have held the belt, but he has made it more prestigious than either of them ever could. On cue, out comes Ziggler. Ziggler isn't surprised that he is still trying to sell himself as champion, because deep down he knows he isn't a true champion just like everyone else. The WWE Universe will never see him as a top guy or a true main eventer because everyone will always see right through him. The Miz retorts by saying no matter what show he is on he is the main event while Dolph's career is buried six feet under. Sure, Zigglers career is at a cross roads, but it doesn't have an asterisk like Miz. Dolph says if he wants to prove he is a main eventer, then he wants one more shot. No one else around, no gimmicks, no wives.. Just the two of them one on one. Maryse comes in, to a lot of boos, and tries to understand the situation. She can't understand why he thinks he deserves another shot at the title, but they are then joined by SmackDown Live general manager Daniel Bryan! Daniel has had enough of Maryse, because if it wasn't for her and her cheating ways then Dolph Ziggler would be champion. The Miz says no way, and he told him at Backlash that he wants his contract renegotiated, and Daniel Bryan won't get what he wants until Miz gets what e wants. Daniel heads to the ring, but both Miz and Maryse leave saying they call the shots around here now.
PROMO (Backstage): AJ Styles is on a search for a partner. He stops by with Baron Corbin. Corbin has a rematch against Crews tonight, but he wants him as a partner. Corbin says he would rather be his opponent. He wants the title. So basically.. No.

MATCH: Baron Corbin vs. Apollo Crews
Baron Corbin attacks Apollo Crews before the match can start. After the assault, out comes Jack Swagger. Monday night, it was told Swaggers contract with Raw was up. Corbin leaves quickly.
RESULTS: No match.
THOUGHTS: Jack Swagger deserves to be shown some love. SmackDown is a good spot for him. Poor Apollo Crews. The guy is a stud, and deserves better.
PROMO (In-Ring): Swagger says as of 12:01 this morning SmackDown is his new home. He says you may think you know what he is made of, but he is bringing something new to the table. He is now on SmackDown, and he plans on being a big problem.

PROMO (In-Ring): The first SmackDown Women's Champ is here to address the crowd. Becky Lynch is making her first appearance as champ! Charly is in the ring, and she asks if the moment has sunk in yet for Becky winning her title. She fights through some "You deserve it!" chants, and says it makes sense for Becky Balboa to showoff her title in Philly. She says she has worked her whole life for this, and it has finally happened. She says the journey was rough, but the destination is definitely worth. Come one and come all, because she is a fighting champion.
MATCH: Naomi vs. Nikki Bella vs. Natalya vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Carmella
This is a fatal five way number one contenders match for the SmackDown Women's Championship.
RESULTS: Alexa Bliss wins via pinfall.
THOUGHTS: I'll be the first to admit that I thought SmackDown's women division would be terrible when the draft happened. They had Becky and really that was it. Natalya had not been much up to that point, they didn't get any of the other "four horsewomen". But I was dead wrong. They've put on consistently great segments/matches week after week. Adding Nikki Bella just makes it better. And, my girl Alexa Bliss is number one contender!
PROMO (Backstage): AJ Styles is still on a partner search. This time he stops Kane. He says the phenomenal one and the devils favorite demon should be teaming up. Kane laughs and walks away. Another no for the new champ.

PROMO (In-Ring): Heath Slater, the unsung MVP since the draft and new tag team champ, finally signs his SmackDown contract. Shane McMahon is in the ring with the contract ready to sign, and says that SmackDown has always been about opportunity. Heath Slater has seized that opportunity and earned himself a contract. Heath is wearing an "I got kids!" shirt, which is just amazing and I love this man. Shane congratulates the two on winning their tag titles, and then Heath signs his contract. Heath thanks Shane and Daniel Bryan, and his wife. He tells her to get the refrigerator box and pack their stuff up because they're moving to a double wide. He thanks Rhyno, and says they'll take on anyone anywhere. Then, of course, all his kids. They are then joined by The Ascension. Anyplace and anytime? How about right here and right now. Heath asks Shane to tell them they can't do it right now. Theres a table, no referee.. But Shane says there is no better time for the first ever SmackDown Tag Team Championship match than right now.

SMACKDOWN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Heath Slater & Rhyno (c) vs. The Ascension
I'm going to be a very angry man if they drop the belts to The Ascension. A team that hasn't done anything in nearly two years.
RESULTS: Heath Slater & Rhyno win via pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Oh thank God.
PROMO (Backstage): Daniel Bryan stops AJ and asks him if he has found a partner yet. He said he doesn't need a partner, and it just so happens to be James Ellsworth. Who was the first guy destroyed by Braun Stroman. I love it. Mauro calls him, "A household name in his own household." which is phenomenal.
*Commercial Break*
PROMO (In-Ring): Randy Orton is going to discuss his injury he suffered Sunday night at the hands of Bray Wyatt. Randy says that the only reason Bray is called the face of fear is because he is afraid. Afraid of Randy Orton. The only reason he attacked him and tried to end his career is because he is too scared, but he is in the ring ready for a fight. So if he has the balls, come to the ring and face his fear. Bray pops up on the big screen, and says that he gave Randy a gift. He gave him the gift of a way out. All he had to do was stay down, but instead he came out and embarassed him. He says that he has his sights set on him, and then tells him not to sleep. The lights go out, and Bray pops up behind the ring. He approaches the ring, but the lights go out again and Erick Rowan ambushed Randy Orton. It doesn't last long as Randy Orton hits an RKO.
*Commercial Break*
PROMO (In-Ring): As James is on his way to the ring, he is attacked by The Miz. The Miz says he is in the main event and not this guy. He is now AJ's tag team partner.
*Commercial Break*
MATCH: John Cena & Dean Ambrose vs. AJ Styles & The Miz
While celebrating their victory, Dean Ambrose hits a Dirty Deeds on John Cena.
RESULTS: John Cena & Dean Ambrose win via pinfall.
THOUGHTS: This match wasn't as good as it could've been, but they seemed pressed for time. But it is what it is. Dean's turn on Cena at the end was good though.
