The last SmackDown Live before SummerSlam is bound to be big. John Cena will take on an old rival in Alberto Del Rio before he goes into a big fight against AJ Styles this Sunday. Then, the SmackDown main event, Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler, will meet in another edition of Miz TV. The Miz will probably be met by his SummerSlam opponent in Apollo Crews as well. How will Randy Orton respond to Paul Heyman's and Brock Lesnar's message from Raw? This Sunday The Viper goes into arguably his biggest match ever as he faces The Beast Incarnate. Are you ready?
PROMO (Backstage): Shane and DB are backstage talking about how the blue team will be the best represented on SummerSlam, and then they invite Randy Orton in to sign his contract for his match against Brock Lesnar. Then Heath Slater comes in bearing a fruit basket, and he says he watched SmackDown from last week again and saw he was going to offered a contract and would like that back. He even stood toe to toe with Lesnar. The bosses say no that he can't have any more chances. Then Randy says he has an idea... The promo ends there, but I'm assuming this is leading to a match between the two.
MIZ TV: It is time for The Miz, alongside his wife, to conduct his must see WWE talk show. Before he could even introduce the show, one of his guests interrupts him. That guest is WWE Champion, Dean Ambrose. Dean says that he can't really stand the sound of Miz's voice, but only gets that far before Dolph invites himself to the ring. Dean says the interruption is fine because he doesn't need to talk to make his point. Miz calms the two down, and says that he invited the men to talk not fight. He begins with saying no one thought Dolph would be main eventing SummerSlam. Everyone thought he was a flop. He had such promise early on, but ended up fizzling out. Now he is in the midst of a career resurgence, but what happens if he fails? Dolph says he isn't worried about after SummerSlam. The only thing he is worried about is his match on Sunday. Dean says he doesn't buy this new Dolph Ziggler. This Dolph with laser focus. Ziggler asks what it is that Dean really wants from him. Does he want him to admit that he uses the critics and naysayers as fuel to be better, and that everything he has said about him the last few weeks makes him want to "kick his head off his face"? He says thats true, but he has to admit that Dolph could beat him on Sunday. Dean says if he does win it isn't going to change his life. The critics aren't silent, life gets tougher. All the critics, doubters, and demons are still there but now you have a bigger target. The pressure gets bigger, and everyone knows he can't handle pressure. Dean says that chip on his shoulder is going to nothing but weigh him down and bury him. The pressure he will feel at SummerSlam will cause him to be embarrassed. He is going to prove to everyone that he just doesn't want it bad enough, and that he never has. Ziggler laughs at the fact that Dean believes he has shaken him or is in his head. He does know one thing. He will have to push through every physical and mental limit he has ever had, and then Dean will have to realize that will never be enough to put him away. Then Dolph hits a super kick quite literally out of nowhere leaving the champ on his back. He ends with, "This Sunday you learn that I am that damn good.".
THEY ANNOUNCE THAT HEATH SLATER WILL GO ONE ON ONE WITH RANDY ORTON FOR ONE MORE CHANCE AT A CONTRACT. Called it.

PROMO (In-Ring): During the commercial break, Apollo Crews comes out to confront The Miz. Miz keeps calling him "Apollo Creed" like Daniel Bryan did last week, and then Apollo hits his finisher to stand tall. Figured the Intercontinental Championship match/feud for SummerSlam, on of SmackDowns 3 matches, would get more love than a commercial break promo.
MATCH: The Usos, Hype Bros, & American Alpha vs. The Vaudevillians, The Ascension, & Breezango
RESULTS: The Usos, Hype Bros, & American Alpha wins via pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Not a fan of these big team tag matches. I think a six man tag match is as large as they should get unless its an elimination match. Ala Survivor Series. But SmackDown should be introducing new Tag Team Championships so this might be their way of showcasing all the teams American Alpha is going to beat.

MATCH: Eva Marie vs. Naomi
Third times the charm right? Will Eva finally have a match or are they going to continue getting her cheap heat?
They announce Eva has been stopped by traffic and won't compete.
RESULTS: Yeah. No match.
THOUGHTS: I like the cheap heat.. But traffic? Really?
PROMO (Backstage): AJ Styles stops Alberto Del Rio to tell him how jealous he is about ADR getting to beat up John Cena tonight. Del Rio stops him and says he knows that gets him excited, but he has been beating up Cena for a long time. Now get lost. Then AJ says thats why he is in a main event at SummerSlam, and he isn't even on the card.

MATCH: Randy Orton vs. Heath Slater
One last chance for a contract for Heath Slater!
Heath is limping from injuries sustained from Brock Lesnar last night.
The match ends in a DQ after Randy does not let Heath out of the corner. Randy then proceeds to beat the hell out of him. Even giving Heath a german suplex and mocking Lesnars bounce afterwards.
RESULTS: Heath Slater wins via DQ.
THOUGHTS: Heath wins! Does he get a contract for a DQ? Randy mocking Lesnar with the german suplexes was fantastic.
*Commercial Break*
PROMO (Backstage): Heath Slater is in the trainers room getting looked at and then the two bosses come in congratulating him on the win and they give him his contract. He then confuses Daniel Bryan for Mick Foley, and Shane for his sister Stephanie obviously somewhat concussed. They then take the contract away as he is about to sign it.
MATCH: Dean Ambrose vs. Erick Rowan(w Bray Wyatt)
After the match, Bray looks at the sheep mask, sets it down and then leaves. Leaving Erick in the ring.
RESULTS: Dean Ambrose wins via pinfall.
THOUGHTS: No surprise here. I think this solidifies Bray Wyatt getting involved in the main event on Sunday setting up a triple threat between Bray, Dean, and Dolph for the WWE World Championship at the next PPV.
*Commercial Break*
MATCH: Carmella & Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss & Natalya
During the match, out comes Eva Marie who was previously upheld by traffic. She is met by Naomi who was supposed face her earlier in the night.
RESULTS: Carmella & Becky Lynch win via submission.
THOUGHTS: Just like the tag team division, the SmackDown womens division is getting a new title as well. So this is another way to show off all the women Becky Lynch will beat.
*Commercial Break*
PROMO (Backstage): Baron Corbin is again destroying Kalisto saying that whenever he gets back up he is going to knock him back down. He does what he wants, when he wants, to whoever he wants.
VIDEO PACKAGE: They playa video of the build up to Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton at SummerSlam.
MATCH: John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio
AJ Styles is on commentary for this one.
After the match John Cena is hit with a Phenomenal Forearm by Styles.
Styles grabs a mic and says he is tired of hearing that the future goes through Cena. When he wins at SummerSlam he will make Cena's passion, his prison, and AJ Styles will be the face that runs the place. He goes for a Styles Clash, but it is countered into an AA by Cena. Cena then cleans off the announce table, and moves the steel steps over to them. He sets up and hits an AA off the steps through the announce table.
RESULTS: John Cena wins via pinfall.
THOUGHTS: This was a little sloppy at points which is surprising for these two, but no match is perfect. I expected John to win as ADR isn't currently doing much, and the attack by AJ was also no surprise. This has potential to be the best match of the night come Sunday!
