DIVA LA REVOLUTION
Steph Maxwell-Kavanagh recently wrote an article about the problem with a lack of time allocated to Divas matches in WWE—a point well illustrated by Charlotte and Natalia's clash at Saturday's Roadblock event. I went into the match thinking that it would be good based upon each lady's respective ring skill, but I had little idea it would become my second favorite match of the card.
But just why was it so good? I believe that one of the main reasons was time. WWE gave this match the deserved amount of time.
Yes, both Charlotte and Natalya are natural talents, but give them 7 minutes including ring entrances and there is only so much they can prove. But double it? With the right talent, you can easily triple the enjoyment and tension of the bout.
The women of NXT have already proven that they can main event a pay-per-view and have people care, but why is WWE so afraid to do the same? I am under no illusion that we will see the WWE Divas title billed last on a WrestleMania card anytime soon, but with the right talent and time allocation, there is no reason that the Divas Championship shouldn't move further up the card.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
A REPEAT, NOT A TREAT
A REPEAT, NOT A TREAT
After Monday Night Raw, Renee Young broke the news that The Usos would be squaring off against The Dudley Boyz in a tag match at WrestleMania 32.
Great! Why not throw Randy Orton vs. Sheamus in while we are at it?
This is not intended to be a slight on either team, but is this really a WrestleMania match in the making? There are neither stipulations, nor story. We have seen these four clash repeatedly on SmackDown and Raw, so what is going to make this one any different? I know that there is a 4-hour card to fill, but this is surely pre-show at best.
The Dudley Boyz are one of the most decorated tag teams in wrestling history. Surely something a little more exciting could be done. Neither team even issued the challenge! Why should we care when WWE obviously do not either?
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
