WWE SummerSlam 2016 PPV Lesnar vs Orton

Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton

If WWE is mad at Lesnar for doing the UFC fight, he could very well lose this to help build Orton back up to a top guy for the brand split. In fact, even if they aren't mad at him, they might want to do this, anyway. Look at it from both angles: if Lesnar beats Hunt, then how much stronger is it going to make Orton look by beating Lesnar? If he loses to Hunt, then you don't want Orton to lose to Lesnar to look like Orton is 2 tiers underneath Hunt, right?

PREDICTION: Randy Orton wins.

WWE SummerSlam Finn Balor vs Seth Rollins Universal Title Match

WWE Universal Championship Match: Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor

I'm completely shocked that Roman Reigns didn't end up facing Seth Rollins instead of Finn Balor, which goes against all predictions I had going forward. Because of this blindside, I'm on the fence as to who could win. Seth Rollins seems like the easy pick, but think about it...what if Balor just comes onto the roster and within a few weeks, wins this new title? That would be kind of insane. I'm very excited for the match and I'm okay with either guy winning, so this is a big plus for the card, even if the idea of a second title (especially named the Universal Championship, which will take a long time for me to get used to) is something that I'm not fond of. Prove me wrong, WWE.

PREDICTION: Seth Rollins wins.

SummerSlam 2016 Ambrose vs Ziggler WWE Championship Match

WWE Championship Match: Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler

Very surprised that not only is Dolph Ziggler getting a title shot, but that it's happening here. Babyface vs babyface matches rarely happen and Ziggler hasn't been in the best spot lately, but hopefully this is a step in the right direction. Ambrose will still retain, but I'm a big Ziggler fan and having him as a main eventer again will be great in my mind nonetheless.

PREDICTION: Ambrose retains.

WWE Women's Championship Match: Sasha Banks (c) vs. Charlotte

Just as I'm shocked about the Universal Championship situation, I was surprised Sasha Banks won the Women's Championship from Charlotte on Raw instead of SummerSlam. A rematch was inevitable as it's not only a built-in storyline from WWE's rulebook when they need it to be, but it just makes sense to not rush the next person in line (who I assume will be Paige, just out of a blind guess). This is Sasha's time, so she's not losing it this quickly.

PREDICTION: Sasha Banks retains.

2016 WWE SummerSlam Apollo Crews vs Miz IC Title

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: The Miz (c) vs. Apollo Crews

Shot in the dark that turned out to be right. It makes sense, as Crews is going to be a major force on SmackDown. He could possibly even win the title, even though I don't think he necessarily will at this show.

PREDICTION: I'm up in the air about this one right now, but leaning towards The Miz retaining through nefarious means.

2016 SummerSlam Styles vs Cena WWE grudge match

AJ Styles vs. John Cena

I was expecting this to have some kind of a stipulation attached to it, such as a Last Man Standing or I Quit gimmick, so I'm disappointed it's just a regular match instead. Still, this should be good. These two should be really hoping to steal the show and will give it their all. Since this is a rubber match of sorts, but the pressure is more on Cena to come out on top, I think he has the edge to win.

PREDICTION: John Cena is victorious and the internet groans because everyone wanted AJ Styles to win instead.

WWE Tag Team Championship Match: The New Day (c) vs. Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows

This could be the end of The New Day as champions as they've already passed the record and The Club is in need of something to give them a boost after having lost a few times and splitting from AJ Styles.

PREDICTION: Anderson and Gallows win the titles.

Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens

Originally, I thought Enzo and Cass would just have some sort of quick squash match to act as a bathroom break and give them time to talk, but this is a significant upgrade if this happens. The downside, though, is that it's the opposite for Kevin Owens. That guy should be wrestling for the Universal Championship, not just being thrown into a tag team match. Still, the optimistic point of view is that this is going to be a fun segment with 4 talented guys, so as long as there are plans to utilize everyone in the right ways going forward, we shouldn't complain. This could end up being one of the most entertaining parts of the night. Maybe Jimmin Marvinluder will show up to help Jericho out.

PREDICTION: How you doin?

WWE United States Championship Match: Rusev (c) vs. Roman Reigns

The question here is whether this is a means to give Roman a title so he doesn't lose relevancy, or if he's putting Rusev over as punishment for his suspension. This could very well go either way, as Reigns being the one to defeat Rusev doesn't hurt The Bulgarian Brute (since, you know, he's a former world champion and all) but a win over Reigns will drastically help boost Rusev's stock.

PREDICTION: I'm leaning towards a lame finish where Rusev retains through disqualification with Reigns winning the match, but not the title.

Sheamus vs. Cesaro

This is going to apparently be the first in a "best of seven" series of matches, so either man can win and it won't amount to anything for a while. Since that's the case and Cesaro has been getting the one-up on Sheamus more times than the reversal, I'm inclined to think The Celtic Warrior will end up finding a way to win to even the odds and put Cesaro on the defensive.

PREDICTION: Sheamus wins.

Becky Lynch, Carmella & Naomi vs. Natalya, Alexa Bliss & Eva Marie

The heels are definitely losing this one, as I fully expect Eva Marie to drop out of it, not wrestle, and turn this into a handicap match. I also think this is going to be one of the pre-show matches, as they haven't announced which ones those will be yet and this is very low on the totem pole. At least the women of SmackDown are getting something to do, though, right?

Update: Eva Marie has been suspended for 30 days, which oddly enough means she has a legitimate excuse not to wrestle this time. Who'da thunk that? So far, they're teasing that this will either become a 2-on-3 handicap match or that a new partner will emerge, but I'd assume the former more than the latter. Who else would be available to take Eva's spot? There aren't any other women on SmackDown to pick from and if they grabbed one of the women from Raw (which certainly wouldn't be Paige, as she's suspended, too) then that would be weird. However, it's the last cross-branded event until Survivor Series, so they could get away with it this time. Nia Jax would be a great fit if they went that route to showcase her some more. There's also Maryse, but she may not be wrestling at all anymore.

PREDICTION: Team babyface wins.

Pre-Show Kickoff Match: Sami Zayn & Neville vs. The Dudley Boyz

Um...what? Wouldn't it have made more sense for this to be Darren Young vs. Titus O'Neil or Baron Corbin vs. Kalisto?

PREDICTION: Zayn and Neville win.

Pre-Show Kickoff Match: American Alpha, The Hype Bros & The Usos vs. Breezango, The Ascension & The Vaudevillains

Again, wouldn't it have made more sense for this to be Darren Young vs. Titus O'Neil or Baron Corbin vs. Kalisto?

PREDICTION: American Alpha picks up the win for their team.
