That's right, after defeating last year's winner Eva Marie in the finals by a clear margin of 75 (63.6%) to 43 (36.4%), the winner of this year's tournament is the current WWE Divas Champion, NIKKI BELLA!
CLOSEST CALL
Three times during this tournament, a match came down to one solitary vote. Two of those times were during the men's bracket, while one of them was in Round 1 of the women's, which saw Bayley get knocked out by Natalya in a score of 52 to 51. That was a bit of an upset, I think, as I figured Bayley would have more support and definitely had my vote. Oh well, she gets the NXT Women's Championship as a consolation prize. The runner-up for closest call with the women was in Round 2 where Lana narrowly passed Sasha Banks by four votes (57 to 53). Again, not the way I voted, but Sasha put up a good fight against someone who had some decent support.
BIGGEST LANDSLIDE VICTORY
Poor Tamina Snuka. She stood no chance against Alexa Bliss in Round 1, losing to her by a huge margin. That round saw 106 people vote and though a few decided to opt out of that particular match in that round, Tamina received only 6 votes in comparison to Alexa's 97. That was a difference of 94.2% to Tamina's 5.8%.
Funny enough, nothing else came really all that close to being that much of a landslide, as the later rounds tightened things up more. Nikki Bella had the next biggest gap between her and Carmella in Round 2, with Nikki earning 76.6% of the vote (85 to 26).
VOTING TURNOUT
The round with the most amount of overall responses was Round 4, just the same as the men's bracket. That one recorded 126 people, which is consistently about double than what the men's polls were getting all throughout, as expected.
The individual match with the least amount of votes was in Round 1 between Renee Young and Blue Pants, which only received 101 votes.
BIGGEST SHOCKERS
I was pleased to see the support given to Renee Young and Alexa Bliss this year, who didn't fair as well in 2014. Even though I'm a huge, huge fan of both of them (to the point where that probably would have been my semi-finals match if given the choice), I was still surprised that Renee Young upset Brie Bella and Alexa Bliss passed Lana. Both Renee and Alexa put up great fights against Eva Marie, too, which surprised me quite a bit.
Having a more concise tournament felt much better this time around rather than dragging it out by three or four extra weeks, so I actually enjoyed this year's more than 2014. I definitely won't be going as crazy as the original tournament ever again, so hopefully you guys agree with me on this new format. Major props to Nikki Bella for joining the ranks of Mickie James and Eva Marie as the sexiest women you all voted for to win these tournaments so far. I'm curious as to who will win next year!
