THE SHIELD + 1
Last week's Monday Night Raw was a night which made it hard for me to choose the Pop this week. From Lana's Fandangoing to the outstanding Sami Zayn versus John Cena match to Bret Hart popping up and even Kofi Kingston pinning Randy Orton, it was a night greater than some recent pay-per-views.
However, my final decision is the addition of Dean Ambrose to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at Payback after defeating Seth Rollins. This means the title match is now a Fatal 4-Way between Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Randy Orton.
This is not just any Fatal 4-Way, though. This will be the first time all three former Shield members will be going against each other. Yes, we have had all three in the ring through tag team combinations and run-ins, but all of these saw Ambrose and Reigns on the same side. However, a Fatal 4-Way is every man for himself with the richest prize in the game at stake.
While it is not the three-way Triple Threat dream match many want, it is near enough as we are going to get for now, and the addition of Ambrose has piqued my interest in the match tenfold.
We now have an even greater degree of unpredictability. Could Ambrose turn on Reigns and join The Authority? Kane alluded to Seth that The Authority could have just as easily as made Dean their champion if they wanted to. Empty threat, or is there more to it? Perhaps, Ambrose is going to win the title himself?
The Fatal 4-Way presents a lot of different potential outcomes and I cannot wait to see how this one plays out.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
TRUTH BE TOLD? NOT FUNNY
TRUTH BE TOLD? NOT FUNNY
On Monday Night Raw, Stardust decided to bring a bag of plastic spiders with him to the ring in an attempt to capitalize on R-Truth's arachnophobia.
Curious to discover what was inside, R-Truth opened it up during the match, only for some plastic joke shop spiders to come tumbling out, terrifying him, and ultimately allowing Stardust to get the win.
Now, I am probably more accepting than most over the milder childish jokes of WWE, but this one just bugged me, and perhaps I am nit-picking here (last insect pun I promise), but even I was a bit embarrassed over this one. It felt more reminiscent of an episode of Disney's Recess than Raw.
When R-Truth talks about spiders, I have to admit that I find that hilarious. Water spiders, Granny Truth's spider stew; something about the absurdity of it all makes me laugh.
This however, did not. I get what they were trying to do, but I am not even sure kids could have found this part that funny.
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
