WWE WrestleMania 2016 Spoilers |
WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match: Triple H (c) vs. Roman Reigns
This was obvious from the moment Triple H was taken out and Roman Reigns won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, so it's just been a matter of making it official, and that's finally happened. Back after last year's WrestleMania, I was hoping for a main event of Daniel Bryan against Seth Rollins. It's weird to think that we're now in a position where Rollins is injured and Bryan is retired. Then, it seemed like a triple threat with The Shield members was a good option, but they killed that off at Survivor Series. Is HHH vs Reigns going to make up for it and be good enough? We'll see, but judging by the reaction he got at Fastlane, if we get a decent option that could take the main event spot over this one, that might be best. Ending the pay-per-view with this match is somewhat risky.
PREDICTION: Roman Reigns leaves with the title.
Hell in a Cell Match: The Undertaker vs. Shane McMahon
Well, this certainly was unexpected. I'm hesitant to trust that this is the best idea out there, as opposed to something straightforward like Undertaker vs. Kevin Owens, but I can't deny that I'm intrigued as hell. This could be amazing, but it's also questionable about the quality considering their respective ages. Also, no matter who wins, the fact that the other person lost is a shame. Having Shane go up against Sheamus representing The Authority would have been a safer bet, but if WWE has a set goal in mind, then we'll just have to see what is in store.
PREDICTION: Undertaker wins.
No Holds Barred Match: Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose
YES! I really didn't want to see Brock Lesnar face anybody in The Wyatt Family and I was hoping this match would take place instead. I'm particularly excited that this is a No DQ match, as that is the best possible scenario for these two to have the most entertaining match possible, considering their styles. This could be the most fun match of the night.
PREDICTION: Brock Lesnar wins.
Divas Championship: Charlotte (c) vs. Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch
It makes sense for this match to be taking place, although I'm actually a little surprised Becky Lynch is still in the mix instead of being written off in favor of just Sasha Banks. Right now, I'm really hoping we don't have a second divas match on the card unless it's on the pre-show and doesn't take up time from any other matches that could have been better. Sasha Banks was one half of the duo that put on two of the best matches of the entire year just not in the divas division, but the entire company, and while Charlotte is no Bayley, there's potential for these three to have a really solid match.
PREDICTION: Sasha Banks wins.
The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal #3
Despite my aversions to it, it seems like WWE will continue this trend unless the roster is so ridiculously thin that they can't afford to have that happen. This is where you'll see a lot of your names like the Social Outcasts, Damien Sandow, Fandango, Jack Swagger, Zack Ryder, Darren Young, The Ascension, and more. It's possible even some NXT people get tossed into the mix, which would be cool. At one point in time, I thought Titus O'Neil was the priority who would end up winning, but his suspension has eradicated that from my thought process. Now, I'm leaning more towards Mark Henry, as he's set to be retiring soon and this would give him a WrestleMania moment. The biggest factor, though, is whether or not The Wyatt Family takes part in this match.
Advertised participants so far: Curtis Axel, Heath Slater, Adam Rose, Bo Dallas, Big Show, Kane, Tyler Breeze, Mark Henry, Jack Swagger, Fandango, Damien Sandow, Darren Young, Konnor, Viktor, Goldust, R-Truth and 4 others TBA
PREDICTION: Mark Henry wins unless Braun Strowman is involved.
The Usos vs. The Dudley Boyz
So remember this feud? Nope? Well, here it is again with no momentum behind it. Now yes, I have complained for a while that WWE dropped this and didn't figure out a way to give it a resolution, but that doesn't mean just tossing a match on the card for the biggest pay-per-view of the year out of nowhere is good enough to make up for that. In fact, that just proves how lackluster this year's WrestleMania is when they're looking at feuds they put zero effort into and they're hoping that will take up some time. This is a Monday Night Raw match by this point and it isn't even good enough for a normal pay-per-view, let alone WrestleMania. Don't be shocked if this is on the pre-show or even bumped from the card to give more time to a promo for The Rock.
PREDICTION: The Usos win.
United States Championship: Kalisto (c) vs. Ryback
I really was hoping that this would be the multi-man match instead of the Intercontinental Championship, since this match just isn't good enough on its own, but Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens would have been. Really, does anybody care about seeing these two at WrestleMania, the biggest event of the year? Is that worthy of that spot? If Ryback wins, it solidifies how pointless Kalisto's championship reign was, but if Kalisto wins, then Ryback has no credibility to work with going forward if they want to push him because Kalisto has no credibility going into the match.
PREDICTION: Ryback should win the championship, so I would be shocked if he actually does because WWE probably would rather tell the story of the little guy beating the big guy.
WWE Tag Team Championship (or maybe not?): The New Day (c) vs. The League of Nations
I don't get it. Why is this a handicap match and why did WWE already do so many variations of these matches, killing much of the excitement? Why did WWE make it even worse by taking the championship off the table?? So much potential has been squandered, as this could have been a BIG match if the build were handled better.
PREDICTION: The League of Nations win.
Team Total Divas (Brie Bella, Paige, Natalya & Alicia Fox and Eva Marie) vs. Team B.A.D. and Blonde (Lana, Naomi, Tamina, Summer Rae and Emma)
Yup, saw this coming a while back. This match is another sign that WrestleMania's card is just so weak this year. Hopefully, if any matches get bumped off the card, it's this one, as it doesn't deserve to take up any time out of anything else.
PREDICTION: Team Total Divas wins unless Eva Marie screws it up for them.
Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match: Kevin Owens (c) vs. Sami Zayn vs. The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder vs. Sin Cara vs. Stardust
I'm positive Neville would have been in Zack Ryder's spot if he wasn't injured, and I'm sure if Cesaro wasn't, he would have been in Sin Cara's spot as well. Poor Tyler Breeze, not getting a shot here.
I still maintain that this multi-man match would have been better off as just Sami Zayn against Kevin Owens, while Ryback and Kalisto doesn't have enough strength on its own, but whatever, this match should be fun even if that United States title one isn't.
PREDICTION: Owens retains unless Zayn comes out with the title. Nobody else will win.
AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho
It bugs me that this match has already happened multiple times. Should it be good? Sure. Would it be a lot more interesting if they hadn't already wrestled three times and had numerous promos with each other over the course of the past month? Of course. If WWE wanted to go this route, it should have been teased rather than already done.
PREDICTION: AJ Styles is victorious.
