Normally, the choices to win the match are obvious and very few. But for once, WWE has done a good job using dirt sheets and building stars to the point where there are seeds of doubt about who will win. I'm going with the general opinion that Brock Lesnar will be the WWE World Heavyweight champion by the time 'Mania rolls around. So here goes my top 5 stars who have a shot to win the big one!
Ryback
If you had told me that Ryback was going to win the Royal Rumble 2 months ago, I would have called you an idiot. But based on his return and most recent promo, Ryback has been on absolute fire. He has a brand new attitude and he's finally connecting with the audience with more than just his "feed me more" catchphrase. It would be the perfect redemption storyline, especially given he should have won the Rumble back in 2013. I'll admit it's highly unlikely, but stranger things have happened.
Dolph Ziggler
I'm not sure if Ziggler is in the midst of another start and stop push or if WWE actually has some direction for the guy. I'll admit I've been suckered into thinking they'll utilize him in the past, so I'm hesitant to support him now. With that said, something feels different about this run, and if I was booking, he'd be my choice. With the Authority storyline, it would be another underdog story much like Daniel Bryan's road to WrestleMania. Just imagine Ziggler bumping all over the place for Lesnar's offense. That alone is a reason that they need to have a match.
Dean Ambrose
If Dean Ambrose can gain some momentum coming out of this shitty Bray Wyatt feud, then the future for him is bright. If you asked me out of everyone on the roster who has "it" then I would tell you Dean Ambrose. He's the only guy that feels different and unique as opposed to some carbon copy of an old gimmick. He can get a good match out of most and his promos can vary from hilarity or down right insanity. If they give him a win against Bray Wyatt and let him redeem himself again Seth Rollins, then by WrestleMania time you have someone who is over enough as well as insane enough to feel like a legit threat to Brock Lesnar. But it all needs to start with a win at Royal Rumble.
Daniel Bryan
It's official, the only "yes man" that I like is back in WWE. With his entry in to the Royal Rumble cemented, it would be very fitting for him to win it. When number 30 hit and Rey Mysterio entered to a chorus of boos in the Rumble of 2014, it became obvious that WWE missed its mark when they didn't center that match around Daniel Bryan. Now they have an opportunity to make right on it. Daniel Bryan can get a good match out of anyone. If you enjoyed CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar, then Daniel Bryan may just be able to one-up that match. It would be a crime to just let this guy flounder in some midcard feud. Just because he doesn't fit WWE's typical mold, isn't a reason not to put him in the WrestleMania 31 main event.
Roman Reigns
It appears that this is WWE's handpicked guy to lead the company. With no signs of The Rock coming back to face Brock Lesnar, it's a safe bet that their other plan of Reigns vs. Lesnar will be their pick. Just a year ago, Reigns was one of the hottest commodities in pro wrestling. But having been given the John Cena treatment and over exposed, that outlook has soured quite a bit. Even so, WWE thought it was a good idea to have Batista win the Rumble in 2014, so I could see them ignoring the audience again and giving it to Reigns. WWE needs to cement their next top star, and given sometime to improve on the mic, then Reigns is the perfect guy. He's a capable hand in the ring, he has a fantastic look, and if he can just keep steadily improving, then the future is bright. But more than anything, they've invested way too much time in Reigns and sacrificed way to many people to not have some type of big payoff. My pick to win this year's rumble is definitely Roman Reigns. - Believe that.
So that's it for my top 5 guys to win the Royal Rumble. Perhaps you think differently? Why not let your voice be heard and tell us who you think is going to win? Just drop a comment in the section below.
