WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar Ricardo Rodriguez as of today, July 30, 2014. WWE wishes Ricardo Rodriguez the best in all of his future endeavors.
In response, Jesús Rodríguez tweeted out "I have come to terms with WWE on my release. I want to them them for a great 4 years. But I miss wrestling."
He had been wrestling on and off as El Local on NXT and under the Ricardo Rodriguez as a comedic character, but for the most part, acting as an in-ring announcer and member of the Spanish broadcast commentary team.
With budget cuts being a frequent topic in WWE, it's no surprise that another release came about. However, I would have personally assumed that Ricardo was valued highly enough to have kept him on board. Then again, I thought the same about Josh Mathews, and I was wrong about that.
There's always the possibility (particularly with his tweet) that this was more his decision than WWE's, and if that's the case, hopefully Rodriguez will get what he's looking for elsewhere.
What are your thoughts on Ricardo Rodriguez being released?
