WWE WrestleMania XXVIII Predictions of Results, Spoilers

Posted by Anthony Mango Sunday, February 19, 2012
WrestleMania 28/XXVIII - the Rock versus John Cena. This year they had the advantage of building up towards the main event for over 12 months. WWE then apparently didn't bother thinking about the rest of the card until the last minute and threw things together, unfortunately. Does that mean it'll be a bad WrestleMania? Not necessarily. But what are we in store for? WrestleMania XXVIII Results will be posted here

The Rock vs. John Cena
They've spent over a year building up to this (basically), so is it going to live up to the hype? Well, personally, I'm expecting the match to be halfway decent but the outcome to piss people off. Why? Because everyone seems to think it'll be something epic and I have my doubts that WWE will do anything but exactly what they always do with John Cena. By that I mean this match will start off with the two of them showboating for a good few minutes, then one-upping each other, then it'll be a series of kick outs from finishing moves, and finally Cena will just go into Hulkamania mode and win. Then, they'll shake hands, and WWE will think that they finally convinced people to cheer for Cena, but they'll be mistaken and the next night on Raw he'll get a mixed reaction at best. I'm also worried that they'll have Miz interrupt or that they'll do some rematch between them later on (particularly at WrestleMania 29).

PREDICTION: John Cena wins, which results in boos. WWE then edits those boos out of the DVD and puts their fingers in their ears, saying "lalalala I can't hear you lalalalala".

WWE Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Chris Jericho
I'm really worried that WWE is going to put these two in between the Hell in a Cell match and the Rock vs Cena match, making it take all the brunt of Taker vs HHH and give people something to hate before they have Rock against Cena. In terms of match quality, this SHOULD be the best match of the night if they're given adequate time and ability to perform to their hearts' desires. This feud wasn't interesting until way too close to WrestleMania. It's a shame it's being overlooked.

PREDICTION: Chris Jericho wins the title.

Hell in a Cell: Undertaker vs. Triple H with Shawn Michaels as Special Guest Referee
I really don't want to see this again, even with the Hell in a Cell format and even if Shawn Michaels is the special guest ref. I'm just not interested. I said last year that they should have had HBK be the ref, but they clearly didn't want to do that, and now it's been too long that the storyline is no longer relevant. I wanted Undertaker to face somebody new - Wade Barrett, Alberto Del Rio, The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, whatever, just not Triple H again. Maybe, though, this will make them reconsider having the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view (as I think it dilutes it too much and I'd rather see something different or just a generic non-gimmick card instead). Above and beyond all things, though, is that I don't have any interest in the HHH ass-kissing that we'll be seeing, and if by some chance they have it so HHH beats Undertaker or this is Undertaker's last match or something, I'm going to be SEVERELY pissed off.

PREDICTION: Undertaker better fucking win, I'll tell you that haha.

World Heavyweight Championship: Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Sheamus
THIS is a main event of WrestleMania? Psh. Give me a break. Now that's an April Fool's joke. Daniel Bryan is nowhere near ready for this type of a match and I highly doubt anybody can convince me otherwise. My next statement isn't because of me not being the biggest fan of these two, it's me stating what I think is the actual truth of the situation: Do not expect this match to be more than a glorified squash. It doesn't have the makings of a long match, so don't be surprised if this is the first match of the night once more.

PREDICTION: Sheamus wins the title.

Intercontinental Championship: Big Show vs. Cody Rhodes
One of the so-called bathroom break matches on the card even though it isn't as bad as the divas are. I don't know why they decided to plan this. It won't draw attention, it won't be a particularly good match, and nobody will care about it because it won't be used for anything of value. I'm starting to think that Big Show is going to win this as he's never been IC champion and they could potentially give him that title as a means to pay him back for his quick WHC reign at TLC, plus it would be some payback for Cody making fun of Big Show's losing so much at WrestleMania, plus Big Show beating Rhodes in a relatively quick match makes more sense than Rhodes beating Big Show. The thing that sucks about that outcome, however, is it disrupts Cody's long title reign for no real reason and makes Cody punk out at WrestleMania rather than giving him something good where he can propel himself into the main event of Smackdown. Even though it's WrestleMania, I'd rather see the ending be Cody getting himself disqualified and Big Show technically winning the match but not the title, then they can continue their feud later and with less restrictions.

PREDICTION: Big Show wins.

Team Johnny Laurinaitis [David Otunga, Mark Henry, The Miz, Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler, & Jack Swagger with Vickie Guerrero] vs. Team Teddy Long [Santino Marella, R-Truth, Kofi Kingston, Zack Ryder, Great Khali, & Booker T with Hornswoggle]
Personally, I hate how Booker T is a part of this. Team Long looks ridiculous, but at least that gives them a reason to lose. If they win, it'll look really, really bad for Team Laurinaitis. The Rey Mysterio situation I'm sure was not taken advantage of because he's just not medically cleared, but why not throw Justin Gabriel in there to get the guy over some more? It might not have sold buys, but is Booker going to? Nope. So the question here now has become if Lord Tensai is going to make an impact in this match. If he does, he'll be screwing Team Long out of the win and siding with Team Laurinaitis. I'm fully expecting Laurinaitis to win and take over Raw and Smackdown. It makes more sense that way. With Teddy Long as the head of both, there's no real storyline to follow, but with Laurinaitis winning, there's an end that we'll be seeking - the end of Laurinaitis in a position of power. That gives them more things to do down the line.

PREDICTION: Team Laurinaitis wins with intervention from Lord Tensai.

Randy Orton vs. Kane
These two are going to get screwed over time wise most likely so that they can waste time on musical performances and retrospectives of the Rock's career. Orton's really been nothing for WrestleMania for years. It's almost as if when they put him on Smackdown, they decided to stop liking him. He's been booking pretty badly for months now.

PREDICTION: Randy Orton wins.

Maria Menounos & Kelly Kelly vs. Eve Torres & Beth Phoenix
Awful. If Kharma's pregnancy issue prevented the Beth vs Kharma match, then ok, no way to get around that. However, they could have done Beth vs Natalya. They could have even done a mixed tag match with Ryder involved, seeing as how Eve Torres is his primary feud now (how shitty of WWE to do that to him while his popularity was at a peak). This better be like 3 minutes maximum unless they all strip.

PREDICTION: Maria and Kelly win. Celebrities always win.
