WWE Survivor Series 2009 Predictions

Posted by Anthony Mango Tuesday, November 17, 2009
Survivor Series is always one of the most important events in the calendar year when it comes to the WWE, so it goes without being said that excitement is in the air. Despite all the gimmicky pay-per-views we've been having lately, the elimination matches are always welcome. With that being said, what's coming towards us this year?

Elimination Match: Team Mickie (Mickie James, Eve Torres, Kelly Kelly, Melina, & Gail Kim) vs. Team Michelle (Michelle McCool, Jillian Hall, Beth Phoenix, Layla, & Alicia Fox)
This is going to be one insanely quick match. With the rest of the card pretty stacked, it's clear that the girls won't get separate entrances and that two or three pinfalls may very well happen within the span of the first minute. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Mickie and Melina are the only two that score pinfalls on their side, with Jillian, Layla, and Alicia taking the brunt of that. I can definitely see Mickie eliminating Michelle in this as well. Eve, Kelly, and Gail are going to be destroyed by Beth, no doubt.

PREDICTION: Beth is the sole survivor after eliminating Mickie James.

Grudge Match: Batista vs. Rey Mysterio
Can anybody REALLY see Mysterio picking up the win here, unless it's by disqualification? If they want Batista to come out of this feud looking like a really evil heel, he needs to utterly destroy Rey in this match. For the first time in a very long while, I'd actually condone a squash match on a pay-per-view, as I think if they don't go that route, they'll dumb it down to the point where half of it is Mysterio doing leg kicks to Batista and making him look weak. Now that they've pulled the trigger and decided to go with heel Batista, they need to really sink their teeth into it and give him as much heat as quickly as possible, and destroying Rey in a handful of minutes will do much more than having Rey fight back but simply be overpowered after some 15 minute kick-fest.

PREDICTION: Batista def. Rey Mysterio via pinfall.

Elimination Match: Team Morrison (John Morrison, Shelton Benjamin, Matt Hardy, Evan Bourne, & Finlay) vs. Team Miz (The Miz, Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus, & Jack Swagger)
I'm about 90% sure that this match will open the card as not only is it the one with the least amount of story going into it, but it also has a large list of young talent that will like to go real hard, real fast, and energize the crowd early on. The eliminations themselves are tough to pinpoint, but one I can definitely see happening is Matt Hardy eliminating Dolph Ziggler or vice versa, starting a feud between the two. I can also see Sheamus eliminating Bourne as they're trying to build him up, for some reason.

PREDICTION: Team Morrison wins with Morrison pinning Miz last.

Elimination Match: Team Kingston (Kofi Kingston, MVP, Mark Henry, R-Truth, & Christian) vs. Team Orton (Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, CM Punk, & William Regal)
Bet of the night: how quick does William Regal get eliminated and how soon does R-Truth follow suit? What I would LOVE to see happen here is that it comes down to Kofi, Orton, and DiBiase, and Kofi eliminates Randy, but then is eliminated by DiBiase. This would make it so Kofi gets a boost by defeating Orton, and DiBiase gets a boost for being his team's sole survivor. Orton can then claim dominance by saying his team won, but it can further drive a wedge between Randy and Ted after Ted asks for the proper respect he deserves, seeing as how Ted won the match for the team, not Orton. I don't think that will happen, but I hope it will.

PREDICTION: Team Orton wins via Orton pinning Kofi last.

World Heavyweight Championship (Triple Threat Match): The Undertaker (c) vs. Chris Jericho vs. The Big Show
This is a bit tough to call, as it would appear that there's no way Jericho or Big Show can win whilst holding the tag team titles, but there are also rumors that they want Jericho to face Undertaker at WrestleMania. I personally hope they think of something different instead of Taker/Batista or Taker/Jericho, but we'll have to wait and see. The safest bet here, though, is that Big Show does something to Jericho and Taker pins him after throwing Show to the outside or whatever

PREDICTION: Undertaker retains via pinfall.

WWE Championship (Triple Threat Match): John Cena (c) vs. Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels
Although this is another clouded picture of what they might be planning for WrestleMania, I think it's another safe bet that the title will not change hands. Lots of people are predicting that DX will split, but I think it's been built up too much, and if they were to have a match between HHH and HBK, they'd want to wait until HBK retires. If they do it now, and he retires in the next 2-3 years as assumed, it will have lost all it's value. Triple H took the pinfall in the tag match on Raw, so he DEFINITELY won't be losing on the ppv. That will be Shawn's job. Another reason I don't think we're seeing a title change is because HBK said before that he doesn't want to work any more ladder matches, and the next ppv is where all the main events will be TLC matches. And really, if HHH wins the title, whom will he feud with?

PREDICTION: John Cena retains via pinfall on HBK.

The card looks promising and could definitely deliver a very entertaining ppv. More importantly, we've got the outcomes to look forward to, as this is generally the time of the year that dictates the beginning of the illustrious Road to WrestleMania.
