WWE NXT TakeOver: New York Results

The pre-show is consisting of recap material and panel analysis. But there is also the WWE 2K19 Million Dollar Challenge with AJ Styles up against "The Golden Voice" Stephan T. Benson. Benson wins in a Brock Lesnar squash match that consists of German suplexes and an F-5...crazy how that happens so often.

NXT Tag Team Championship Match: War Raiders (c) vs. Aleister Black and Ricochet

RESULTS: War Raiders retained by pinfall
THOUGHTS: That was one hell of a match. Good lord. These guys do such a good job constantly. Move after move, it's so good. I'm nervous about Ricochet possibly being injured, though.

NXT North American Championship Match: Velveteen Dream (c) vs. Matt Riddle

RESULTS: Velveteen Dream retained the title by pinfall
THOUGHTS: It couldn't follow the previous match, but it picked up toward the end. Very surprised at the outcome. Velveteen Dream's entrance was great (and seriously, when is he not great?) Surprised at the crowd being anti-Riddle so much.

United Kingdom Championship Match: Pete Dunne (c) vs. WALTER

RESULTS: WALTER won the title by pinfall!
THOUGHTS: Everyone kept hyping this up to be something like a Match of the Year candidate, and I don't feel it reached that level. However, I did enjoy it, so it's still a thumbs up in my book even if it's a B instead of an A+++.

NXT Women's Championship Fatal 4-Way Match: Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Bianca Belair vs. Io Shirai vs. Kairi Sane

RESULTS: Shayna Baszler retained by submission (Belair tapped out)
THOUGHTS: Disappointing. It wasn't bad, but I really thought this was going to be so much better than what it was.

NXT Championship 2-out-of-3 Falls Match: Adam Cole vs. Johnny Gargano

Adam Cole wins the first decision by pinfall.
Johnny Gargano wins the second decision by submission.
Johnny Gargano wins the third and final decision by submission

RESULTS: Johnny Gargano wins the title with a 2-1 score.
THOUGHTS: Suuuuuuuuuuch a good match, particularly after the second decision. Wow. Not to take anything away from Cole, who is amazing in his own right, but Gargano really is the best in-ring person in WWE, hands down.
