WWE NXT TakeOver: New Orleans Results |
The pre-show is being hosted by Charly Caruso, Sam Roberts and former NFL player Pat McAfee, who run down the card and give their "analysis" on the matches. There are some really awkward moments, like the ending of the Candice LeRae segment and the way that McAfee keeps trying to push himself out there and acting like a nervous fan more than a member of the broadcast team.
The show starts off with Cane Hill performing the theme for the event.
North American Championship Ladder Match: EC3 vs. Killian Dain vs. Lars Sullivan vs. Adam Cole vs. The Velveteen Dream vs. Ricochet
RESULT: Adam Cole wins the title and is your inaugural champion!
THOUGHTS: Such a damn good spot match and the bar has been set.
NXT Women's Championship Match: Ember Moon (c) vs. Shayna Baszler
RESULT: Shayna Baszler wins the title by submission.
THOUGHTS: Figured a new champion would be crowned. The match was a little weird, but not awful, just a bit awkward here and there.
Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Finals and NXT Tag Team Championship Triple Threat Match: The Undisputed Era (c) vs. The Authors of Pain vs. Roderick Strong and Pete Dunne
RESULT: The Undisputed Era retain when Roderick Strong turns on Pete Dunne and joins the stable!
THOUGHTS: Wooooooow!!!! I didn't see that heel turn coming!
NXT Championship Match: Andrade "Cien" Almas (c) vs. Aleister Black
RESULT: Aleister Black wins the title by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Good match, albeit I'd argue it was a little overbooked. Just a smidge.
Unsanctioned Match: Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa
RESULT: Johnny Gargano wins by submission.
THOUGHTS: JESUS that was good, and exactly the type of match they needed to have.
