Monday Night Raw presents WWE Elimination Chamber 2018 Spoilers |
Men's Elimination Chamber Match: Braun Strowman vs. Elias vs. John Cena vs. Roman Reigns vs. The Miz vs. Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins
So...we're going to have seven people in a match meant for six? Okay...
This will determine the No. 1 contender to Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship for WrestleMania 34, which means it's pretty much a two-person race between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman, depending on one major factor: does WWE want to go with the flow and potentially put the belt on Strowman instead of sticking to their guns with Reigns solo?
They can't possibly be ignorant to the support Strowman has been given over the past year from the WWE Universe, versus how no matter what they want to hope, Reigns vs. Lesnar is just not going to end up too much differently than what happened at WrestleMania 31. There's no way they've built up enough good will to make people care about a rematch and an anointment of Reigns as The Guy once more, even though I'll admit that they've made further leaps than I had expected with the temporary Shield reunion.
There exists a strong possibility that Reigns and Strowman end up doing something that results in BOTH of them earning a title opportunity, wherein Strowman can end up leaving WrestleMania with the title instead of Reigns. However, the smart bet is that this is just a Reigns victory and the status quo remains.
It all depends on whether there is a solid idea in mind of what to do with Strowman at WrestleMania, since right now, nothing has been hinted at other than for him to fight Lesnar again or for Kane to return and seek vengeance (which would probably be underwhelming and I don't think is likely, since that would require him to be healthy AND available to work) so all I can say for sure is that there's no way anybody but Strowman and/or Reigns wins this match. The other participants stand no chance whatsoever.
PREDICTION: Roman Reigns wins.
Raw Women's Championship Elimination Chamber Match: Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Bayley vs. Mandy Rose vs. Mickie James vs. Sonya Deville vs. Sasha Banks
So here's the conundrum: does Asuka challenge Alexa Bliss and/or Nia Jax at WrestleMania, or does she challenge Charlotte Flair? That depends on whether Ronda Rousey fights Flair, or if she's going to be paired up with Kurt Angle to fight Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.
As far as this match goes, it has only one outcome: Alexa retains, no matter what happens with Nia Jax and Asuka. We're either getting Alexa vs. Nia, or Alexa vs. Asuka, or Alexa vs. Nia vs. Asuka and in all of those scenarios, Alexa goes in with the title to drop it to either Jax or Asuka.
PREDICTION: Alexa Bliss retains.
Asuka vs. Nia Jax
If Nia Jax wins, it becomes a Triple Threat at WrestleMania, so...maybe they do something like she wins by count out or disqualification? That way, they can kind of give a little momentum to Jax as someone who has "defeated" Asuka without actually defeating her?
What's weird, though, is that they've been acting like this is a guarantee that Asuka is going to challenge Alexa Bliss with their wording that Jax could be added to make it a Triple Threat—not "if Jax wins, she earns a shot at the title as well" or something that leaves more leeway for Asuka to challenge Charlotte Flair and for Jax to get a singles match against Alexa at WrestleMania.
If Ronda Rousey fights Charlotte Flair, then we know Asuka is fighting Alexa possibly with Nia in the mix. If Ronda is involved with Stephanie McMahon, then Charlotte could very well drop the belt to Asuka instead, leaving Nia open to fighting Alexa even without winning this match, even though it would then create a void where Asuka would challenge for the SmackDown title and Raw would have nobody in line since everybody would have been defeated outside of Alexa (since the five challengers lost the Elimination Chamber and Nia lost her match while Asuka jumped ship).
PREDICTION: Asuka wins, unless there are teases of Ronda vs Charlotte.
Ronda Rousey Contract Signing
These are always frustrating on pay-per-views, as WWE thinks it's a justification for an elongated promo to be on a special event just because it happens to end in an inevitable confrontation of sorts. Basically, I don't care. Is Ronda Rousey going to be teaming up with Kurt Angle against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, or is someone else going to be her partner? That's all that matters, and it's going to take 20 minutes out of my day (more, really, with all the pre-show banter and stuff) and I might not even get an answer to that.
PREDICTION: It's awkward and not as cool as WWE wants it to be, but we have to hear about it being such a wow moment for weeks/months.
Bray Wyatt vs. Matt Hardy
Considering the need to add more matches to the card, this absolutely needed to happen, even if it's not exactly something that will be super interesting and drawing in lots of viewers.
PREDICTION: Matt Hardy wins.
Raw Tag Team Championship Match: The Bar (c) vs. Titus Worldwide
Titus O'Neil and Apollo (formerly Crews) got a win over Sheamus and Cesaro, so it makes sense for them to be in the title hunt. I don't think this will really go anywhere, as I think The Good Brothers (or The Balor Club, whatever you want to call them) and The Revival are more likely to be in the discussion for the titles at WrestleMania, but there's definitely a chance that Titus Worldwide get the upset here and we set up a Fatal 4-Way at Mania.
PREDICTION: The Bar retains.
Pre-Show Kickoff Match: Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows vs. The Miztourage
Well this is about as much of a throwaway match as you can get, isn't it?
PREDICTION: The Balor Club wins.
