Here are my predictions for the 2016 WWE Money in the Bank PPV. Check back for Money in the Bank 2016 results and review coverage here.
WWE Money in the Bank 2016 Spoilers |
WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Seth Rollins
Duh? This is great. These two will put on a fantastic match and the audience will be super hyped for it, even though the person they want to win is going to come up short. Rollins has a better chance to defeat Reigns than a lot of other people on the roster, but I still feel like the title is staying where it is for now.
PREDICTION: Roman Reigns retains.
Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Sami Zayn vs. Cesaro vs. Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens vs. Alberto Del Rio
I guess WWE decided against having a seventh contender, which I assume would have been either Randy Orton, Big Show, Bray Wyatt, Baron Corbin or Kalisto. Whatever the case may be for that, my prediction of who will win is still the same. Dean Ambrose is the favorite, so I assume he's not going to win. Jericho and Del Rio don't need it, and Zayn is not ready, so this boils down to Cesaro or Owens. Between those two, Owens is leaps and bounds above Cesaro in terms of being a credible world champion. KO needs to take this and to win the world title later on this year.
PREDICTION: Kevin Owens is the 2016 Mr. Money in the Bank.
John Cena vs. AJ Styles
Heel AJ Styles seems like a bad idea to me, but with the upcoming roster split, it could be a great decision. I also don't know if I'm going to like the idea that this is happening here and most likely also at Battleground and SummerSlam until I know if it has legs. If it's just a rematch multiple times, that will annoy me. They'll need to do something to spice it up.
PREDICTION: AJ Styles wins.
WWE Tag Team Championship Match: The New Day (c) vs. The Club vs. The Vaudevillains vs. Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady
The best of all worlds, right? Unless, of course, you're The Dudley Boyz or The Shining Stars or The Lucha Dragons or Breezango or Golden Truth...or The Wyatt Family. Anyway, this should be a fun match, and I think there's actually a very high chance we see the belts change hands. Anderson and Gallows can win by pinning someone like Aiden English which would set up a regular rematch between them and The New Day for Battleground before doing some other kind of gimmick match at SummerSlam.
PREDICTION: Anderson and Gallows take the titles unless The New Day retains. The other two teams don't have much of a chance.
United States Championship: Rusev (c) vs. Titus O'Neil
Yeaaaahhhh.....nooo....
PREDICTION: Rusev retains.
Charlotte & Dana Brooke vs. Becky Lynch & Natalya
Don't tell us you've got this big revolution of the women's division and then do a tag team match instead of having another title defense. This is a Monday Night Raw match or something that should happen on SmackDown, not a pay-per-view. Basically, this is a means to stall because they don't have another option properly set up to challenge Charlotte for both this event and Battleground before SummerSlam (even though it takes 2 weeks to set up someone like Paige or even Naomi). Anyway, I expect Becky to get the pin on Dana Brooke as a means to say she should have a title match at Battleground, and then for these four women to continue to trade off matches with each other leading up to that show.
PREDICTION: Becky Lynch and Natalya win.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin
WWE wants this feud to keep going, but doesn't want to invest any time in doing anything with it on Raw, which is a shame. Both guys deserve better, but I'm still hoping it'll be a good match overall.
PREDICTION: Baron Corbin HAS to win this.
Apollo Crews vs. Sheamus
Sheamus got pissed that Apollo Crews was in a qualifying match after he lost, so he attacked him, and neither of them are in the ladder match now, so why not toss them onto the pre-show, right? Or, you know, do that and then move it to the main card. This makes perfect sense, and I'm happy they're doing this. Apollo Crews needs a victory to justify his spot on the main roster, as WWE has done virtually nothing with him since bringing him up after WrestleMania. Sheamus can take the hit as well.
PREDICTION: Apollo Crews wins...I hope.
Pre-Show Kickoff: The Golden Truth vs. Breezango
Well hey, they're having a match after all. It just happened to not be announced until the Friday before the event where suddenly two matches were added to the card. Very weird. Either way, it makes sense to continue this feud if they (somehow) have the time to put them on the show. As much as I don't like almost anything from this Golden Truth storyline that has gone on for months, the one good thing to come out of it is Breezango, and I hope they take the win.
PREDICTION: The Golden Truth is victorious.
Pre-Show Kickoff: The Dudley Boyz vs. The Lucha Dragons
Did someone at WWE just panic at the last minute, figuring that there needed to be more matches added to the card to fill up time or something? I think both of these teams are worthy of having a good match, and I'm not going to complain about trying to get more people on the card, but it seems very, very suspect. There isn't a feud going on with these two teams, so no setup demanded this to take place. Odd indeed.
PREDICTION: The Lucha Dragons win.
