WWE Fastlane 2016 Spoilers |
#1 Contender's Match: Roman Reigns vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Brock Lesnar
I'm curious about the inclusion of Dean Ambrose, as I figured this would be either just Reigns against Lesnar or the third man would be Sheamus (or it would be a Fatal 4-Way that would also include Kevin Owens, stacking the odds against Reigns and making him the only babyface to root for with Brock being a tweener). Could this lead to a Brock vs Ambrose match at WrestleMania, or is Brock just going to end up with The Wyatt Family? If the latter is true, then you can expect to see them interfere and cost Lesnar the match. Really, out of everything involved in this match, the one thing I'm the most curious about is the direction WWE takes with Ambrose, cause Reigns definitely will be winning.
PREDICTION: Roman Reigns wins.
United States Championship 2-Out-of-3-Falls Match: Kalisto (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio
Reports said Del Rio was injured, so I assumed Rusev was going to take his spot at this event. Then, while Kalisto was facing Rusev on Raw, they announced that Del Rio was scheduled to fight Kalisto at the event anyway. I'm assuming his injury isn't as bad as we all expected (or WWE is really just trying to get him to work through it and don't want Rusev on the event in his stead) but while this is a bigger match, I'm not too into it. This will be the fourth or fifth time we've seen these two face off (I've lost count) and since the title has been switched multiple times during those matches, I no longer have anything to look forward to. The match should be the same as they've been having and if either of them wins, it really doesn't matter.
Wow...this match has been bumped to the Kickoff. That's terrible.
PREDICTION: Kalisto retains.
Divas Championship: Charlotte (c) vs. Brie Bella
Brie's a sacrificial lamb to feed to Charlotte and kill time, since this doesn't matter anywhere near as much as the WrestleMania match (which still doesn't matter a lot in the long run).
PREDICTION: Charlotte retains.
Sasha Banks & Becky Lynch vs. Naomi & Tamina Snuka
I figured this would be an easy call for WWE to make to fill up the card, since Fastlane is pretty much the most pointless event of the year and so much of the roster seems plagued with injuries. This is a stall to avoid having Sasha Banks and Charlotte face off until WrestleMania. Whether that will be in a singles match or a triple threat with Becky Lynch, or a four-way with those three and Paige has yet to be confirmed, but Sasha Banks will be at the forefront of this match and will get the win for her team unless Becky gets the win to avoid having Sasha win twice in a row (since she should be winning at WrestleMania).
PREDICTION: Sasha and Becky win.
The Cutting Edge Peep Show with guests The New Day
For the second year in a row, a promo is being featured on this event (this has happened three times, technically, as there were two last year). This just further proves that Fastlane is a worthless event.
PREDICTION: Next year, they do the same shit.
Intercontinental Championship: Kevin Owens (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler
These two have been wrestling quite a bit lately and if Owens was going to defend his new championship, it makes perfect sense for it to be against Ziggler. Dolph has been beating him, so when Owens retains here, it'll help balance that out and make him look strong so he can move on to AJ Styles for WrestleMania.
PREDICTION: Kevin Owens wins.
The Wyatt Family vs. Big Show, Kane and Ryback
The three members of The Wyatt Family supposedly in this match at Braun Strowman, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan with Bray Wyatt sitting out. I'm not sure how much this will play into WrestleMania plans, but this is definitely starting to make me doubt anything will happen other than Brock Lesnar facing Bray Wyatt or all four members in a handicap match. Not a fan of that, as I was hoping to see an eight-man tag, but this six-man tag kind of kills that, doesn't it?
PREDICTION: The Wyatt Family wins.
AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho
It took a while for this to be confirmed considering we were already expecting it, didn't it? This match should be good, but I have to admit that I'd be more excited to see it if I hadn't already watched the two of them face off before.
PREDICTION: AJ Styles wins.
