WWE Extreme Rules 2016 Spoilers |
WWE World Heavyweight Championship Extreme Rules Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. AJ Styles
You saw how Payback went down. A rematch makes sense. Their last match was fun, so I'm down for this, particularly with no disqualifications being involved.
PREDICTION: Roman Reigns retains.
Tag Team Championship: The New Day (c) vs. The Vaudevillains
With Enzo Amore's injury, The Vaudevillains were solidified as the #1 contenders, and I had them as the favorites to win that match anyway despite that, so I don't think the plan will deviate much if at all. I was assuming a tables match between Enzo & Cass vs The Dudley Boyz was scheduled which will be canned, but The New Day will have their challengers in Simon Gotch and Aiden English just as before, and I don't think this changes the direction of who will win the match, either. New people can sometimes be considered favorites, but The New Day are too popular in comparison and The Vaudevillains have yet to fully get over with the crowd, so those belts are staying where they are.
PREDICTION: The New Day retains so they can drop the belts to Anderson and Gallows later.
Women's Championship Submission Match: Charlotte (c) vs. Natalya
After seeing them wrestle before and the feud revolving around the story that they're presenting, I honestly don't care at all.
PREDICTION: Charlotte retains.
United States Championship: Kalisto (c) vs. Rusev
I'm not thrilled about Rusev holding the belt again, but at this point, practically anybody would be better than Kalisto, as WWE clearly doesn't value the title when it's in his possession. There have been months of evidence of this and we need a change.
PREDICTION: Rusev wins the title.
Intercontinental Championship Fatal 4-Way Match: The Miz (c) vs. Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro
Payback very clearly set this match up, and I'm down for seeing these four fight it out. This could be the best match of the night.
PREDICTION: The Miz retains unless Sami Zayn wins the belt.
Asylum Match: Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose
So WWE is doing Lethal Lockdown? Somehow, even though the concept is a TNA one, I have more faith in WWE's execution of the concept, although at the same time, don't get your hopes up that it will be super hardcore.
PREDICTION: Ambrose is victorious unless WWE cops out and has someone interfere to start a new feud, which I hope doesn't happen.
Pre-Show Kickoff No Disqualification Match: Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler
These guys are lucky this isn't an Extreme Rules match or a Street Fight, eh? I hate that so much. Anyway, it's good to see that this match is happening even if WWE considers it an afterthought at best. They've put little to not effort into this feud for weeks and it's a shame, because both guys deserve at least a little attention.
PREDICTION: Baron Corbin wins.
Texas Tornado Tag Team Match: The Usos vs. Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows
Makes sense to have this happen earlier in the night so Anderson and Gallows can win and put some doubt in a Roman Reigns retention later on. This should be a fun match, but probably won't get too much time, so it could end up being a little on the sloppy side, too.
PREDICTION: The Club wins.
