WWE Battleground 2016 Spoilers |
WWE World Heavyweight Championship Triple Threat Match: Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins
I guess WWE didn't want to wait for SummerSlam, and as long as they have something just as cool or better planned for that, I'm totally on board for the triple threat taking place here. This should be awesome and I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully, Ambrose keeps the belt, since a transitional reign would be disappointing. Any other scenario feels wrong to me, even if it facilitates something that I want to happen, which is a Roman Reigns heel turn. It just seems like a new champion would take too much away from Ambrose and slot him in as a transitional title-holder rather than a legitimate top dog. Reigns' suspension put a unique twist to this, and the match was already going to be interesting just because of the three men involved, but I'm really curious just how bad of a reaction Reigns gets, too. This is going to be one of the most important matches of the entire year.
PREDICTION: Ambrose retains by pinning Reigns.
Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens
Nobody thinks this is the last time that these two will face off in their careers, but I do think there will be a somewhat definitive ending (for now) here despite how it's not a gimmick match. More so, I think this is happening because they will be split up on two different brands come July 19th, with Owens staying on Raw and Zayn going to SmackDown.
PREDICTION: Sami Zayn is victorious.
Natalya vs. Becky Lynch
Oh my God. I don't care. Natalya is awful as a heel.
PREDICTION: Natalya wins.
The Club vs. John Cena, Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady
A rematch was a guarantee in some fashion, but I didn't expect them to go with a six-man tag. This can work, though, as it gets Enzo and Cass on the card officially as well as Anderson and Gallows, and it leaves open the room for other people to be pinned outside of Cena and Styles, so there's more of an excuse to do a singles match later on at SummerSlam.
PREDICTION: John Cena's team will pick up the victory, making this 1-1 in the record books, 2-0 in a sense because Cena "had the match won" at Money in the Bank.
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: The Miz (c) vs. Darren Young
Hahahaha...sure, why not? So long as The Miz doesn't lose the belt, I'm down for this. If it stops the video packages from happening and it actually starts getting somewhere with the new Darren Young character, give him this random match where he's fed to The Miz to make him look like a stronger champion. Now, if Young does win the belt, I'll be really disappointed and it will make me extremely nervous about this brand split, because one of the biggest problems in the past was the midcard scene being watered down dramatically, and Darren Young just isn't Intercontinental Championship level.
PREDICTION: The Miz retains.
WWE United States Championship Match: Rusev (c) vs. Zack Ryder
Once Titus O'Neil lost for the second or third time, he was pushed aside and the next in line was definitely Zack Ryder. After all, Ryder set forth a challenge to capitalize on the momentum of winning the Team America vs Team Multi-National Alliance match. I don't have faith that Ryder will win the belt, but stranger things have happened, and it's not out of the realm of possibility. He won the Intercontinental Championship in a match that seemed like he had no chance, and he's being set up as a more viable contender for this title, so don't be surprised if he pulls out the victory, if not just to transition Rusev into a more upper midcard role for whatever brand he ends up on.
PREDICTION: 60% in favor of Rusev retaining and 40% in favor of Ryder winning the belt.
Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel with Randy Orton
Jericho will talk about how Orton is out of the game from his injury. Orton will RKO him. The end.
PREDICTION: You can skip this.
The New Day vs. The Wyatt Family
I'm down for this, but I think the titles should have been on the line. This feud has been interesting and I'm digging both sides, so I'm actually good with either team coming out with the win, but the brand split is making it hard to see how things will pan out.
PREDICTION: The New Day wins....wait...no....ah, crap, I don't know.
Charlotte & Dana Brooke vs. Sasha Banks & Mystery Partner (aka Bayley)
We know it's Bayley, right? Also, this is kind of lame that they're doing another tag team match just to avoid doing the title match between Sasha Banks and Charlotte.
PREDICTION: Sasha Banks and Bayley win.
Pre-Show Kickoff Match: The Usos vs. Breezango
Uh......
PREDICTION: The Usos win.
