Here are my predictions for the 2015 WWE Fast Lane PPV. Check back for Fastlane 2015 results and review coverage here.
[WWE United States Championship]: Rusev vs. John Cena
Ooooh man....this could be bad. I don't know what WWE is planning here, but I can see a ton of ways that this could lead to disaster. Rusev has to beat Cena and lose to someone worth a damn at WrestleMania who is NOT John Cena. I don't see a reason for The Rock to face him, either, so before you jump to that, would you really want to see all of this build for Rusev just be wasted on The Rock? Since this is for the title, it's yet another reason why I can't imagine Cena would come out with a pinfall or submission victory. Still, I don't think WWE has the right mentality when it comes to people being too big for a title. If Cena were to win the United States Championship, that wouldn't suddenly make Cena look like a jobber—it would only boost the value of the title and help whomever would defeat him for it down the line.
PREDICTION: Rusev wins via some cheating method of some sort.
[WWE Divas Championship]: Nikki Bella (c) vs. Paige
Paige is a better route to go than Natalya at this point, but Paige is most likely walking away as the loser in this match. I just can't imagine Paige holding the title going into WrestleMania and having any possible match make more sense than Brie Bella versus Nikki Bella.
PREDICTION: Nikki retains.
[WWE World Heavyweight Championship #1 Contender's Match]: Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan
I'm hesitant to trust that this will all work out in the end for WrestleMania. Turning Reigns heel is a mistake and including Bryan in this feud is just forcing that to slowly happen. There's no way he gets cheered in the championship match if Bryan is involved and anyone who defeats Lesnar ends up not getting as much of a rub compared to if they beat him one-on-one, fair and square.
PREDICTION: Roman Reigns wins, retaining his status as the #1 contender, unless WWE has caved in and will be doing some sort of screwed up draw ending and including Bryan in the WrestleMania match.
[WWE Intercontinental Championship]: Bad News Barrett (c) vs. Dean Ambrose
Ambrose is right at a perfect Intercontinental Championship level right now, but it isn't his time to win. Unfortunately, after losing every match for a long, long time, I can't imagine him taking the title here. I also don't think we'll see a rematch between these two at WrestleMania, since it wouldn't make much sense to do so much stuff at Fastlane that will happen the next month at that event. WWE can't be that stupid, can they?
PREDICTION: Barrett retains.
[WWE Tag Team Championship]: The Usos (c) vs. Tyson Kidd and Cesaro
Right now, I don't know if WWE is willing to push The Ascension to the tag titles at WrestleMania or if they will simply put them up against a nostalgic tag team like the Dudley Boyz. If Konnor and Viktor win the titles at WrestleMania, then I can see Kidd and Cesaro failing to do so at this event. If The Ascension will wrestle another match, then this can be something else entirely. One way or another, these two teams are feuding, so it makes sense for WWE to have a tag team match at Fastlane between them with the title on the line.
PREDICTION: The Usos retain.
Cody Rhodes vs. Dustin Rhodes
Considering how John Cena and Rusev will probably have a rematch at WrestleMania and there's a chance Barrett and Ambrose will as well as this match, this pay-per-view could be filled with nothing but terrible non-endings to stall. It makes more sense to me for Goldust's last match to be at WrestleMania rather than Fastlane, particularly as the build to this hasn't quite hit its stride yet. Personally, I think having any match at Fastlane that will also happen at WrestleMania is a mistake no matter what the situation is. I just hope WWE doesn't screw things up, and I hope that these two have a Backlot Brawl at WrestleMania.
PREDICTION: Stardust wins.
[Six Man Tag Team Match]: Seth Rollins, Kane and Big Show vs. Dolph Ziggler, Ryback and Erick Rowan
Well, this was one of the matches I thought would happen at WrestleMania, so now I'm not sure what's going on there. I still think we might see Randy Orton return to interfere and cost Rollins the match, but now that there's a possibility Sheamus could return and do that to Daniel Bryan, I'm starting to think Orton's return might come at Raw instead. The Authority could easily win here, just to give a bit of a boost to Rollins. Or, Big Show can fully turn on Kane and cost his team the match. It doesn't really matter, so I'm just going with the babyfaces.
PREDICTION: Team Anti-Authority wins.
