Here are my predictions for the 2014 WWE Hell in a Cell PPV. Check back for Hell in a Cell 2014 results and review coverage here.
Hell in a Cell Match: Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose
I don't care about WWE's specification that Orton/Cena is the main event, THIS has to be the main event for sure. These two are the best thing going in WWE today and they deserve the credit. I'm very excited for this match and I think it has a chance to be one of the better HIAC matches of recent memory—assuming WWE will allow Rollins and Ambrose to go all-out. Either one of these guys could win and it would seem legitimate, but I'd prefer Ambrose to get the victory.
PREDICTION: Dean Ambrose wins.
Hell in a Cell Match: Randy Orton vs. John Cena
This is nowhere near the marquee match that would have sold this event (John Cena vs Brock Lesnar in the cell for the title) and it's a shame WWE decided to go this route instead. However, it could have been worse, as they could have saddled Ambrose in this spot and not given us the proper finish between him and Rollins, favoring Cena for that match and shoehorning him into another feud that wasn't his to take. This is a match that has been done a million times and it won't be anything different from what we've seen in the past. Hopefully, they prove me wrong and these two go out there and put on a great segment, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too high. It's nice to see that they've added the #1 contender's stipulation to it, as well, to help give it a little boost.
Just tossing this out there...why not have Seth Rollins interfere, cost the match for Cena, give us Orton vs Lesnar while Cena teams up with Ambrose (and some others) to face The Authority in the elimination match? Eh? Eh? Nope? Sorry, WWE, I tried thinking of something that works.
PREDICTION: John Cena wins.
Nikki Bella vs. Brie Bella
The stipulation here is that the loser has to be the other's personal assistant (aka "her bitch"), which makes sense given the storyline they've been building, but it's still going to get a bit of a groan and a sigh from me. I'm not interested in Total Divas this season at all and any extension of that kind of booking is just giving me a sour taste in my mouth. I have more confidence in the Bella Twins as far as in-ring work than ever before, so I'm not going to downgrade the match quality until I see it, but if I'm honest, I'm hesitant to trust that this will end up being something memorable in a positive way when this feud is over with.
PREDICTION: Nikki Bella wins.
United States Championship: Sheamus (c) vs. The Miz
If you're not going to push Rusev with the US title, give it to The Miz. Sheamus isn't doing a damn thing with it, so he needs to lose it very soon to someone. Either one of those two would work, or Bad News Barrett upon his return, or Bray Wyatt, or anyone, really. This is a match done multiple times in the past and just like Orton vs Cena, I wouldn't expect anything special from these guys.
PREDICTION: Sheamus wins.
Big Show vs. Rusev
I would prefer Mark Henry get involved here just to spice things up, but if they cut this short and don't put too much focus on it, then it might not be too bad. Their match on Raw was surprisingly better than expected, so while I'm not a Rusev fan by any means, I'm not as down on this as I could be.
PREDICTION: Rusev wins.
Tag Team Championship: Goldust & Stardust (c) vs. The Usos
Standard rematch clause is in effect and this will end the feud between these two unless they are on opposite teams for Survivor Series.
PREDICTION: The Rhodes brothers retain.
Divas Championship: AJ Lee (c) vs. Paige
These two have been feuding for a long time, so why would anyone be surprised to see another match with them?
PREDICTION: AJ retains so she can drop it to Nikki eventually. I don't care what the rumors are about Total Divas not holding the title, I still think that's happening down the line.
PREDICTED MATCHES
Let's take a look at some of the potential matches that seem as though WWE will be adding...
Intercontinental Championship: Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Cesaro
This feud is not over with and Cesaro has even stated that he will be getting a rematch of sorts.
PREDICTION: Cesaro wins the title unless Miz defeats Sheamus. Both titles aren't switching hands.
