WWE SummerSlam 2014 Spoilers

WWE's SummerSlam pay-per-view will take place on August 17, 2014 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Here are my predictions for the 2014 WWE SummerSlam PPV. Check back for SummerSlam 2014 results and review coverage here.


WWE World Heavyweight Championship: John Cena (c) vs. Brock Lesnar

The poster sure spoiled this, didn't it? I don't quite see the point in putting the title on Lesnar if he isn't going to stick around, but it seems like WWE is going through with that. This will get him his win back against John Cena from his return at Extreme Rules, which is good. However, I don't think this will be anything but a problem in the grand scheme of things when building up toward WrestleMania 31.

PREDICTION: Brock Lesnar wins the championship.


Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt (with some kind of stipulation)

Now that these two are going to have a singles match at Battleground, they've killed any "first time match" buzz that could go into SummerSlam and they'll need to add a stipulation to the match to make it worth a damn. It won't be for a championship, so that's not in the cards. I highly doubt it will be a Loser Leaves Town match of some sort, since Jericho just came back. My guess is this is just going to be a generic No Disqualification match and it will be placed somewhere in the midcard.

PREDICTION: Bray Wyatt wins if he loses at Battleground. Jericho wins if he loses at Battleground.


Brie Bella vs. Stephanie McMahon

This is one of the rumored matches from the leaked DVD cover and it makes perfect sense, considering how WWE has been building up to it for a while.

PREDICTION: Brie Bella wins.


Flag Match: Rusev vs. Jack Swagger

Woo!! This is exactly what WWE should have done, in my mind. Better yet, Jack Swagger should win this. WWE would be redeeming themselves somewhat for all those anti-WWE people that thought they were capitalizing on the plane tragedies too much, plus it would be better for Rusev in the long run. Losing in this environment would not hurt Rusev at all and it would make all the difference for Swagger.

PREDICTION: Swagger wins.


Divas Championship: AJ Lee (c) vs. Paige

This is, of course, going to happen. The only question is whether or not it will be given a stipulation.

PREDICTION: I'm not so sure....but for now....AJ Lee wins.


Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton (vs. Kane?)

Well, this is thoroughly underwhelming. I'm not sure why WWE considers it to be a marquee match, since we've seen it dozens of times this year, but for some reason, they do, and we're getting it again. There's a chance Kane is added into it as a triple threat, but that isn't written in stone.

PREDICTION: Roman Reigns wins.


Lumberjack Match: Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins

Finally, this match is going to take place. I'm excited for it as I think it has the potential to be the best match of the night. Ambrose should theoretically win here since he has the most ground to make up. I'm not particularly excited about it being a Lumberjack Match, as I was hoping for more of a Street Fight or Falls Count Anywhere Match or something of the sort, but it could always be worse. At least we aren't getting a Stretcher Match or Ambulance Match, right?

PREDICTION: Ambrose wins.


Intercontinental Championship: The Miz (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler

I think The Miz will defend the title against someone just to stall the match with Sheamus, which will take place at Night of Champions. The most likely candidate would be Dolph Ziggler, who also has a lot of steam behind him at the moment.

PREDICTION: The Miz retains.

Pre-Show Kickoff: Cesaro vs. Rob Van Dam

Um....why is this on the card?

PREDICTION: Cesaro wins.

Let's take a look at some of the potential matches that seem as though WWE will be adding...

United States Championship: Sheamus (c) vs. ???

Likewise with the Intercontinental title, I think Sheamus will defend his title successfully and the unification will come at Night of Champions. Cesaro needs to have a match on the card, so why not put him here?

PREDICTION: Sheamus retains.

Tag Team Championship: The Usos (c) vs. RybAxel vs. Luke Harper & Erick Rowan vs. ???

This is a rumored match and could definitely be a possibility. Maybe Stardust and Goldust fill the last spot? Maybe Big E and Kofi Kingston playing tweeners?

PREDICTION: The Usos retain unless Big E and Kingston are in it.
