WWE SummerSlam 2013 Spoilers |
WWE Championship: John Cena (c) vs. Daniel Bryan
This should without a doubt be a situation where they have John Cena put Daniel Bryan over clean. Cena has absolutely nothing to lose and Bryan has everything to gain. In fact, if they want to make a new top star in the company (not necessarily surpassing Cena but just being someone at the top), they should make Cena tap out. It would make Bryan seem so much more legitimate. Will it happen? No. I think if Bryan wins this, especially now that Triple H is involved and will probably fuck everything up, this will turn into a situation where he only wins via some sort of bullshit. The only outcome that I want to see happen is for Daniel Bryan to beat Cena clean with no interference, cheating, ref bumps, distractions, cash-ins, NOTHING....and I guarantee I'm going to be disappointed.
PREDICTION: There are only two outcomes I can see happening now: Bryan wins the title in some way that Cena doesn't just flat out lose and then Bryan gets cashed-in on, or Cena retains possibly through a draw and then gets cashed in on.
CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar
Brock can't afford to lose more matches, so he has to win this. My guess is that they make Punk look like he stood up to the bully, but was just overpowered. Punk then moves on to someone else for Night of Champions (Del Rio?) and we don't see Brock Lesnar for a while....possibly Survivor Series.
PREDICTION: Brock Lesnar wins.
World Heavyweight Championship: Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. Christian
This is what you put on what's supposed to be the second biggest event of the year, for one of your top championships? Del Rio is so bland and uninteresting and yet, WWE continues to give him main event slots like this. Ugh. Christian has no momentum going into this. It just screams filler to me. Is that coming off the same way to anyone else? I can just imagine WWE thinking "we've got 2 matches people care about, that's good enough, let's waste this as a bathroom break because people will already buy the pay-per-view based on Lesnar/Punk and Bryan/Cena, and we can do something worthwhile at Night of Champions instead". Awful waste of what should be a priority.
PREDICTION: Alberto Del Rio retains and this boring, pointless reign continues.
Ring of Fire Match: Bray Wyatt vs. Kane
Okay, so they're not calling it an Inferno match...but that's what it has to be, right? I can't imagine anything else for "ring of fire". Wow, I didn't see this coming at all. In all honesty, did anyone else think they would go this route? I'm interested and excited. Inferno matches aren't necessarily the most entertaining, but at least they're doing something different. There's only been two other Inferno matches in the past, so it's not like we're seeing yet another street fight or something. Very cool.
PREDICTION: Bray Wyatt wins.
Cody Rhodes vs. Damien Sandow
It doesn't appear as though the briefcase will be on the line. I would expect Sandow to win here. Unfortunately, I also think that WWE is going to screw these two on the time that they're given. This could be a match that suffers greatly from a time cut. I hope that's not the case...
PREDICTION: Damien Sandow wins.
Dolph Ziggler & Kaitlyn vs. Big E Langston & AJ Lee
It's inevitable in the line of "ignore giving Ziggler the title in favor of keeping it on the boring Alberto Del Rio" that I've been predicting since the title reign first switched and everyone was assuming that Ziggler would just win it right back. As a means to cram the Divas into the card, they'll probably make this a mixed tag match, seeing as how we've already watched Big E versus Dolph on Raw.
PREDICTION: Dolph Ziggler wins.
Natalya vs. Brie Bella
I get why they're doing this, as they want to promote Total Divas. But when you don't have a lot of people that should be on the card with any match (Curtis Axel, RVD, Ryback), this should not take place.
PREDICTION: Brie Bella wins.
Pre-Show Kickoff United States Championship: Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Rob Van Dam
RVD has a good chance at winning here, just to take the title off Ambrose, who WWE doesn't seem as thrilled about as they used to be. This could be a good match, but it could also amount to essentially nothing.
PREDICTION: Dean Ambrose wins.
Tag Team Championship: The Shield (c) vs. Mark Henry & Big Show
There is an EXTREMELY good chance that The Shield lose the titles here, as this duo is a very credible team that could dethrone them.
PREDICTION: The Shield wins.
PREDICTED MATCHES
Looks like a lot of people are sitting out, including Randy Orton, Curtis Axel, Wade Barrett, Fandango, Kofi Kingston Ryback, the Real Americans, the Usos...ouch. My guess is Orton is being left off to tease the cash-in, Axel will interfere in the Punk/Lesnar match, Kofi Kingston and possibly some others will be on the panel for the Kickoff, and everyone else is just being looked at as "oh well".
