YouTube Pre-Show: 3MB vs. Team Cobro
I'm rooting for Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd. Yeah, you know what I mean. WWE changes the pre-show AGAIN. They just can't commit to this pay-per-view. Kind of a generic match. 3MB walk out with the victory.
WINNERS: 3MB via pinfall.
We all expected this, right?
Bonus Elimination Match: Brodus Clay, Justin Gabriel, Tyson Kidd, Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara vs. Tensai, Epico, Primo, & Prime Time Players
Good idea, having this match. I was hoping they'd have another elimination match and these people match up pretty evenly. I'm surprised. Nice move with Sin Cara doing a sunset flip power bomb of sorts...and nobody got injured. Ouch, Brodus Clay tried to toss Tensai with his suplex and couldn't get him up. Tensai then jumps on Brodus and eliminates him. Brodus Clay is the first eliminated?! Damn. Justin Gabriel is able to flip Tensai over on his side and pin him to eliminate him. So now it's looking like Rey Mysterio's team is going to win. Tyson Kidd flips over the ropes and rolls Titus O'Neil up to eliminate him. Only Epico, Primo, and Darren Young are left to face International Airstrike, Sin Cara, and Rey. Kidd locks a Sharpshooter in for Epico, who taps out. Rey Mysterio eliminates Primo, then sets Darren Young up for a 619. Everyone is taking turns jumping on Darren Young. Rey eliminates Darren Young.
WINNERS: Team Brodus Clay, minus Brodus Clay, via pinfall.
Wow, why did Brodus Clay get the elimination? Is he in the dog house? Anyway, not a bad start to the pay-per-view. I'm very glad they had this instead of wasting time in some other way.
Backstage, Aksana in a blonde wig attacks Kaitlyn again, but Kaitlyn doesn't get injured. Eve Torres comes up and says she'd hate for something to happen to her before the match. Kaitlyn pushes her and repeats that.
Divas Championship: Eve Torres (c) vs. Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn walking to the ring and looking awkward is over with. That means the high point of this match is done. Kaitlyn is just bad, even for divas standards. Kaitlyn's supposed to be a real power player I guess. Eve's more of the finesse. Eve ends up with the victory anyway and cops a feel in the process.
WINNER: Eve Torres via pinfall.
Nobody really expected this to be great.
David Otunga is replacing Cody Rhodes while Team Ziggler argues over who the leader is. Back at Team Foley, Orton is sitting off to the side while Kofi argues with Miz and the tag team champions argue who is the tag team champions. Foley himself breaks up the arguments. Miz says Foley didn't pick him, the WWE Universe did - Foley tells him to shut up. Time to put your hands in and say "bang bang" on 3. Orton doesn't do it, only Daniel Bryan. Randy Orton tells Foley he hates him and walks away, but Foley says that means he's ready.
United States Championship: Antonio Cesaro (c) vs. R-Truth
JBL says he's helping Cesaro learn Russian via Rosetta Stone. Crowd doesn't seem too into this. I'm surprised they're not taking the opportunity to do the World Heavyweight Championship match instead at this spot. Neutralizer for the win.
WINNER: Antonio Cesaro via pinfall.
Generic. Didn't expect too much though.
Commercial time. Here's a commercial for David Otunga's legal services, aka promoting Tables, Ladders, and Chairs. That's a good commercial.
Promotion for The Rock's appearance at the Royal Rumble.
Now let's take a look at all the AJ scandal stuff. Ok, bathroom break then. Out comes AJ, claiming to have evidence or something. AJ shows a picture of Ricardo Rodriguez and Vickie Guerrero eating burritos together, Photoshopped. The same with Vickie's mouth covered in Jim Ross's BBQ sauce. "It's like something out of National Geographic" LMAO. Brodus Clay next to a Vickie Guerrero wearing a leopard outfit. AJ says if she and Vickie fight, they lose their jobs. Tamina comes out and attacks AJ.
Backstage, Josh Mathews talks to Paul Heyman. Heyman touts CM Punk's title reign.
World Heavyweight Championship: Big Show (c) vs. Sheamus
They start out slugging. Big Show gets caught up in the ropes, allowing Sheamus to do his ten chest pounds. Big Show dodges a Brogue Kick attempt. When Sheamus goes to the top rope, Show spears him. Kind of slowed down...not really that entertaining in my opinion. With some help from the ropes, Sheamus is able to give Big Show an electric chair. Impressive. Big Show catches a Brogue Kick and tries to chokeslam Sheamus, but Sheamus reverses into a White Noise for a two-count. Big Show pulls Scott Armstrong in the way to get hit by the Brogue Kick. Big Show knocks out Sheamus and another referee (one of the two checking up on Armstrong) calls for the bell after a pinfall.
WINNER: Big Show via pinfall.
Another referee disputes this and says that Big Show is disqualified, instead.
WINNER: Sheamus via disqualification.
I'm not the biggest fan of this ending, as I was hoping for something else for a feud and not for this to continue.
Big Show argues with the referee. Sheamus starts attacking Show with a chair. I guess they're building up to a chairs match at TLC.
They're dragging this out so, so much.
Elimination Match: Team Foley (The Miz, Randy Orton, Team Hell No, and Kofi Kingston) vs. Team Ziggler (Dolph Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio, Damien Sandow, David Otunga, and Wade Barrett)
No Paul Heyman, so there's no point in this feud still. Daniel Bryan gives the No kicks to Damien Sandow, who decides to leave his team and tell them "good luck". Kane brings him back into the ring, tags himself in, chokeslams Damien Sandow, and pins him. Damien Sandow is eliminated. Bryan and Kane start pushing each other. Ziggler hits the Zig Zag on Kane to eliminate him. Nice spot with Kingston flipping Ziggler! Is Cole wrong or did Wade Barrett really change his finisher name from The Souvenir to The Bullhammer? I hope not. Souvenir was cool sounding. Otunga is eliminated when Daniel Bryan makes him tap out from the No Lock. Barrett hits the Winds of Change on Kofi Kingston. Ugh, Barrett did change the finisher name. He lands the "Bullhammer" on Kofi Kingston and eliminates him. Daniel Bryan goes for the No Lock on Del Rio, who squirms out of it. Del Rio eliminates Daniel Bryan with the armbreaker. Miz eliminates Wade Barrett with a Skull Crushing Finale. We're down to 2-2, Orton and Miz against Ziggler and Del Rio. Del Rio kicks the Miz in the head and eliminates him. Fuck. I was hoping Miz would be the sole survivor. Orton dropkicks Del Rio after he jumps off the top rope. Ricardo starts distracting Orton, allowing Del Rio to nail Orton in the head for a two-count. Mick Foley goes after Ricardo with Mr. Socko. Ziggler dropkicks Del Rio instead of Orton. Orton hits the RKO and eliminates Alberto Del Rio. Ziggler holds onto the ropes to avoid an RKO and hits the Zig Zag. Orton kicks out. Orton's bleeding from the mouth. Orton starts going for the punt. Ziggler hits a superkick instead and wins!
WINNER: Team Ziggler via pinfall. Sole survivor Dolph Ziggler.
Didn't go the way I expected it to, multiple times, but it was entertaining. I'm glad Ziggler won instead of Orton.
WWE Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Ryback vs. John Cena
Ryback is being introduced last? Louder "Cena sucks" than "let's go Cena" while he squares off with Ryback. They're really playing up Ryback's strength as if he's the biggest threat of the match. He's no-selling a lot of stuff. Some good "feed me more" chants. Ryback hits the Meat Hook clothesline on Punk and starts setting him up for a Shell Shock while Heyman screams "no". Cena interrupts and locks Ryback in the STF. CM Punk gives them both an elbow drop. Ryback tries to give them both a Shell Shock but they double-team him. They both give him a vertical suplex through the announce table. Cena hits an Attitude Adjustment out of nowhere but only gets a two-count. Ryback hits another Meat Hook on CM Punk. Ryback hits the Shell Shock on Punk. Cena breaks up the pin. Cena goes for AA, Ryback hits Shell Shock on Cena. Three men that look like security guards attack Ryback. It looks like Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and someone else but I can't tell who that is. They power bomb Ryback through the Spanish announcer's table. CM Punk goes over and pins John Cena to retain.
WINNER: CM Punk via pinfall.
Surprised that Ziggler didn't interfere, but I'm even more surprised at the three people attacking Ryback. Good match.
HIGH SPOTS
1. WWE Championship match
2.Elimination Match
3. The fact that they added the other elimination match
LOW BLOWS
1. Divas
2. AJ segment
3. Brodus Clay getting eliminated
CRITIQUE RATING SCALE: 3-COUNT PINFALL (Good)
Reasoning: There were some parts that aren't fantastic, and I wouldn't put this as a great pay-per-view, but it was quite solid overall. It's good enough to be put in the 'good' section.
