WWE Money in the Bank 2010 Predictions

Posted by Anthony Mango Saturday, June 26, 2010
Money in the Bank graduates from an awesome section of WrestleMania to another one of the gimmick ppvs. Personally, I'm not a big fan of that, seeing as I think having it at WrestleMania is much better, as well as having only one winner that could go for either title. Still, you never know if they'll be tinkering around with the idea and forging something better.....even though normally, when the WWE changes something that was going right, they fuck it up.

WWE Championship [Steel Cage Match]: Sheamus (c) vs. John Cena
Steel cage matches are almost always advertised as being put in place to keep people from interfering, despite how history has shown us that they almost always do anyway. Well, that is, when they can do as they're told, but sometimes the chains are too thick to break and sometimes you leave Brock Lesnar standing in the ring waiting for you for a little too long. I could talk on and on about how Sheamus should never have even been a one-time world champ, let alone twice, and how I don't think he's main event material, and that I have no interest in this match...but with Triple H's supposed arm injury, I'm a little more likely to enjoy this match. Why is that? Because I was assuming that Sheamus would retain and we'd have a rehash of HHH vs Sheamus for SummerSlam, which I don't want to see. But now, I think the outcome is different. My guess is John Cena gets the title back and we see John Cena vs Wade Barrett headlining SummerSlam. Now THAT I'm game for, so I'm naturally hoping for it to happen. I don't want to hope that much, because then it will mean that it won't happen and they'll just give Sheamus a 2-year title reign instead, but I still hope so.

PREDICTION: Either Sheamus retains via Nexus interference or Cena wins. Sheamus won't win clean.

World Heavyweight Championship: Rey Mysterio (c) vs. Jack Swagger
Unfortunately, I can't see them giving Swagger the title back. This is a shame, as they screwed him out of a good title reign, and now they're going to make him look even worse when he loses to a midget on one foot. If McIntyre wins the MITB, I could see him cashing in here and beating Mysterio, but I really hope not.

PREDICTION: Rey Mysterio retains.

Raw Money in the Bank: Randy Orton vs. John Morrison vs. Evan Bourne vs. Ted DiBiase vs. Chris Jericho vs. Edge vs. The Miz vs. Mark Henry
Ok, let's run down the participants. Mark Henry, Evan Bourne, DiBiase, and Morrison sadly, have no chance in hell of winning this match. I'd be fine with any of them winning, but they simply won't. The next least likely to win is the Miz. Again, I'd love for him to win it, but he won't, not while he's the United States champion. This means the winner will be either Orton, Edge, or Jericho. With Jericho being a sort of "backup main eventer" a lot of the time, and possibly not even in the best position with management over his television hosting gig, I don't think Jericho's coming out the victor. When it comes to Orton and Edge, it depends on who is booked to win the WWE championship match. I think if Cena comes out with the title, Edge is going to win. If Sheamus retains, Orton will. I'm not expecting a cash-in for this, either. Two ladder matches and a steel cage match on the card means that a cash-in would be throwing all their eggs into one basket, and frankly, they don't need a surprise cash-in with a card like that.

PREDICTION: Edge wins.

Smackdown Money in the Bank: Big Show vs. Matt Hardy vs. Christian vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Kane vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler
Ugh. Drew McIntyre is going to be world champ soon. Kane, Big Show, Matt Hardy, Cody Rhodes, and Dolph Ziggler have zero chance at winning this. Kofi is the IC champ, so he won't be winning, especially to cash in against a face champion in Mysterio. That leaves Christian and McIntyre, and Christian clearly isn't being considered a main event guy. God I hope that I'm wrong about this and McIntyre doesn't win. Am I, though? I doubt it. We might as well just be asking ourselves "when does Drew cash in and beat Rey for the title" because you know it's coming. Warning: if Drew wins this match, it'll put me in a very sour mood, as I'm already dealing with a crappy world champ on Raw who has been pushed far beyond his caliber of performance (Sheamus). I don't want another ruling Smackdown.

PREDICTION: Drew McIntyre wins.

Unified Tag Team Championship: The Hart Dynasty (c) vs. The Usos
Glad to see this make the card. It should be a decent match. There's no way that the Usos walk away with the titles, though.

PREDICTION: The Hart Dynasty retains.

Women's Championship: Layla (c) vs. Kelly Kelly
Most of the time, they like to have a heel champ on one side and a face champ on the other, but I don't think we'll see Kelly win the title here. If we do, then she'll hold it for a little bit and drop it to Michelle. They're big on the whole LayCool thing...for some reason...and they're not going to start focusing on other people just yet. My guess is Kelly either loses because Michelle interferes or she wins and they try something like saying she needs to pin both because they're "co-champs".

PREDICTION: Layla retains.

Diva's Championship: Alicia Fox (c) vs. Eve
With Melina on the track to recovery, I don't think we'll be seeing Eve win it back. Alicia's most likely going to hold it until Melina comes back, becomes the #1 contender, then beats her for it. Thus, Alicia's going to keep her title here, even if Eve wins via count-out or disqualification. I'm really surprised they're going with two divas matches on the card. Two bathroom breaks...hm.

PREDICTION: Alicia retains.
