Jack Swagger Cashes in Money in the Bank - New World Heavyweight Champion!

Posted by Anthony Mango Wednesday, March 31, 2010
At the Smackdown tapings for the April 2nd episode, Jack Swagger apparently cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and successfully defeated Chris Jericho to become the new World Heavyweight Champion!

Edge and Jericho will have a match to decide who faces him at Extreme Rules (though of course the logical choice would be Edge).

Personally, I'm a fan of this. It took a while for me to warm up to Swagger, but he's proven himself entertaining in the ring, and although he's not the best on the mic, he's not the worst in the world. I'll admit, part of me wanted Swagger to win a world title very soon just in spite of Sheamus being pushed for absolutely no reason, as I felt Swagger had so much more value to him than Sheamus and had proven himself worthy of such a spot. He already had a decent ECW title reign and helped carry that entire show, so why look past him and give the title to the new guy that only had a shitty Goldust feud under his name?

It'll be interesting to see at what capacity they use Swagger. I'm not expecting a long title reign, naturally, probably more so along the lines of a month or two max, but still, Swagger's a future top dog in the company and it's about time they start pushing these younger guys instead of just backing out of it every time. Now if they would just give world titles to the Miz, Morrison, and Shelton...lol
